And what about it makes it OK for you to accuse someone of illegal behavior? Me thinks you doth protest too much Mr. Mouse. The case may be very circumstantial but it seems odd that anyone would know all about SAX & DOTTY before ever buying a CDG disc. I know that I had purchased hundreds of CDG's before I had ever heard of it. I was just wondering what this person was using SAX & Dotty for if he didn't own any CDG's. What songs were this person playing with sax & dotty and how did he get them if not from his own CDG discs? Is it at all possible that this person bought a PC from someone with S&D already loaded with a boatload of ZIP files? Is it at all possible that someone put the software on his PC as a favor or for a price? It's not as if that never happens.
Oh, I see what is going on. You simply don't know what you are talking about. The OP needs to rip some disks, presumably because he has some legal ones. Then Jam shows him how to do it, from his experience of having ripped many legal CDGs. Then when you see "submit the file names so the next guy doesnt have to do the work too" you don't understand what FreeDB is or does, so like an idiot with a gun you start shooting in every direction despite not knowing a darn thing about what you are doing.
So despite the fact they are discussing actions that only people who have legal CDGs take, you accuse them of illegality.
My mistake. I thought perhaps you knew something.

I have used FreeDB on about 800 karaoke disks now, and it has probably only had about 80% of the disks I ripped on file. I submitted a few of the ones I named, not many. The data usually gives me a starting point, because I end up changing the file names to fit my favorite DISKID-TRACK - Artist, The - Title, The.zip format
I have only recently started ripping, and creating my karaoke library. It's a little different since I am actually doing it now, rather than reading about it, but I am finding out a few things.
I bought the 100.00 program (fast tracks I think it's called) to go along with compuhost (yes I'm lazy) but, I'm finding out that I still have been typing in most of the titles, and artist because the program does not recognise the cdgs. For example 2 different, 3 disc sets from Chatrbuster (that was a surprise) They were the 5000 series (5075)for one. Also yesterday, tried the Sound Choice 6 cdg, 60s set, same thing, not on the available list, again had to do everything manually. Today I tried to rip the Supercore discs that I just got from E-bay, again the 16 discs starting with #101 is not on the list. I had tried audiograbber before but my cd drive didn't like it. Finally as a last resort today, I tried power cdg burner and the lyrics came right up, strange to me why a 100.00 program can't do the same with CB, and Supercore discs. Another thing that I thought was funny was that windows media player had pulled up track names for me before when the karaoke program did not. So the Power cdg burner seems to work the best, and seems to be the one most people like on KS. The only thing I havn't figuired out with that program yet is how to change the parseing order (I think thats the right term). I have also bought some music online, and I see that the parseing order varies on that too, so I assume I can go back and edit each song grrrrr. Seems like my compuhost program only will retrieve songs done a certain way. I am looking at your format mcky which I assume woud be a standard, since I know you also use compuhost. If you don't mind, a sample would be easier for me to understand. Anyway, I am rolling, and ripping, and its just the finer points now that I am dealing with, almost there and Thanks to many of you here. I have found out in the past couple of months that there is more to this than I originally anticipated, but it has been fun, and I have met some nice people here. Thanks again, Ron

Have you performed the Autoupdate for Fasttracks as required after purchase to bring the database up to the registered status? Until you do so the database is VERY limited, since it is for Evaluation purposes only.
I also use Fasttracks and found EVERY ONE of the discs you mentiioned.
Chartbuster 5000 Series = Chartbuster 50 Pack Greatest 5000+
Supercore = Supecore SPC101-SPC116
Sound Choice 60s Pak = Sound Choice H of F 60s 6pk

tbreen and supercharged its nice to know there are some still here that can keep on topic and not lower themselves to the level of another antagonistic crap-artist.

I am in the "research phase" of transferring my discs to my hard drive. I am so overly inundated with information, but I think I may have an idea of what i have to do. Please, someone tell me if it sounds like I'm on the right track.
My goal is to be able to not only transfer all of my discs (for protection, mostly!) but record live performances, as well.
I have NEO G, SCDG, CDG, MP3+G, (yes I'm all over the place)...
SO, I need to get CDGFIX because this will cover all of my formats. With this software I understand that I will also be able to create my song book.
Then will I still need something like Compuhost as a player? I am using Tricerasoft, but would like to upgrade...
I'm really trying to figure this stuff out, without asking someone to just do it for me, but actually know what I'm doing.. I want to thank everyone for their willingness to share info., this forum has been a great help.

Hey Boatman,
Sorry to hear your having soo many problems Renaming Tracks.
I use Fast Tracks & KJ PRO. Both up to date. I like Fast Tracks MP3 Builder, for single tracks and KJ Pro's Database is More Accurate.
Remember that 'Program' we talked about.
I load a Disc and click a button and the Tracks are Renamed using one the the Databases I just mentioned.
No More Manually Typing! Keep It Simple!
Kind Regards,
sw00000p

After downloading the trial, I clicked on the link to buy, but I kept getting a, web page not found. After 2 days of that I bought the other one, but now wish I waited, and been a little more patient. Ron

tbreen,
Please don't misunderstand me. I like Fast Tracks. It has a nice MP3+G SongBook Builder. Where you can build a songbook from Single Tracks. She looks up DiscID's nicely.
My fustration lies with the Song Search. As I've stopped buying cdg discs long ago. I now purchase only the Songs People Request. In time, this collection can get quite large. Due to Human error, the need to Accurately search by Song is VITAL!
Kind Regards,

i will still need compuhost to run my show, si o no?
(it's been a long day in spinnawebb land, our tv broke, had to purch new one, went digital...new cables, new tv stand, etc., hurt my wallet mucho mucho!) good thing I have the biggest month I've ever had before coming up... =/
and i was planning on buying software today, but alas, now it must wait another week or so!

Yep, you're right. I tried the same search and came up with the same result.
I contacted them immediately by email and received the following response within 45 minutes...
"Hello,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have verified the issue and will do
everything within our power to have this issue corrected in time for the next monthly AutoUpdate, due out the first week of October.
Thanks again and have a great day,
Sales Team

ALL software products run a good chance of containing bugs, whether discovered or not, however most software companies do NOT respond as Invicion does.

Believe it or not. One year ago I emailed Fast Tracks a list of "10" such discs and today it still remains the same.
I received the same, "YADAA YADAA YADAA" message. With a lot of luck, maybe this time they'll actually show DiscID containing 3 & 4 parts to it Correctly.
