Janis Joplin (too many to mention) Pat Benatar (same as above) Etta James (what a rockin' blueser she still is) Beth Hart (only a few of hers out) Tina Turner (some of her covers like the Beatles' Help are outta this world) Irma Thomas Lucinda Williams Rossington Collins Band (reformation of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Dale Krantz is a kicka$$ rock chick) Melissa Etheridge (some of her older, edgier stuff)
I could go on and on and on....... It is HEART's management or the artists themselves that are saying no. Not Soundchoice. THey are the ones that have put out the most Heart songs so far, and there's a reason for that! They F(n NAIL 'em!

I'll agree with you for the most part on that Matt with the exception of one track. They totally tanked Straight On by throwing the melody line in on certain parts (like "Knock down the wailin' wall....", "my heart keeps playin' a tune.....", etc) instead of the harmony line which makes it unacceptable to sing live. A shame really because like you said, they f'in nailed it cept for that major slip.

Something that has always bothered me is the fact that no one has made the classic Echo & The Bunnymen song "Lips Like Sugar". It always makes any 80's song countdown.
For some reason I can't help but continue my quest to find it. Something weird about that. I don't even want to sing it! Weird, huh?

Sorry, it posted twice. All I could do was edit the post to this nonsense. I guess I must have been really passionate about Echo & The Bunneymen! .

Monday update: Selectatrack has just listed "Hot N Cold!" If any of you have your women singers screaming for more Katy Perry like mine are there it is.
I'll pick it up before Thurs along with a couple of Bloodhound Gang tracks I can't find anywhere else. That'll be three... the download minimum for the site.

how about "Notorious" by Loverboy? Was a ROCKIN' tune in it's day!
It was partially written by Jon Bon Jovi, and the American manus have difficulty getting his stuff done now.

I want to sing it, it was a little more of a mainstream song and I think it would go over well. Planet P Project's " Why Me " was mentioned earlier and it is a killer song with a cool guitar lead for a spacey type song, I would love to have that one too, although IMHO it wasn't quite as well known as Echo's song.
Voices by Russ Ballard is a song that is available that reminds me quite a bit of " Why Me " but since I already have a ton of songs to learn maybe I'll wait before I buy it.
It's great when movies bring back some of these great 80's songs and exposes a new generation to them such as the case with Napoleon Dynamite and the song " The Promise " by When In Rome. I wonder if " Why Me " has ever been on a soundtrack. Rudy.

The Promise might be an early 90's song, but you get my drift. Rudy.

Hey Matt, do you do " Voices " and if so how difficult is it to do? If I recall it has a some soaring high parts. Rudy.

There's a couple parts where you're doing the chorus ("don't look back, look straight ahead...) with other voices and then going into the lead where if you're not ready, you get outta breath rather quickly!
But for me, the high vocals isn't a problem. But I'm almost a 1st tenor with my range... so take that for what it's worth.
I still have problems with some Journey and Triumph songs...
SPEAKING of which, there was a couple of songs on my mp3 player that reminded me of this thread. I'll get back shortly with a couple more requests!

Another great but not too well known 80's song that I would just love to have is Anything Box's " Living in Oblivion " it kind of has a Naked Eyes type feel to it. I frequented clubs ( Yucatan Liquor Stand ) in Houston quite a bit in the 80's and there were so many fun songs that were played back then.
I would also love anything by The Cult and The Cure to be released. Gene Loves Jezebel's " Desire " was another cool song I'd love to have. I far as I know " Jealous " is the only song available from them. Rudy.

Yeah 99.9% of the population have trouble with Journey, much less Triumph which I think is even a higher range than Journey. Triumph is an awesome band by the way! Oh well, my falsetto is decent, if I had to throw some in to do Voices I don't think it would ruin the song. Thanks, Rudy.

Yeah, Rick Emmett (spelled the correct way. more on that later) gets WAAAAYYYYY Up there, but they are great! I'd love to have Allied Forces on karaoke!
Rick's name was misspelled as "Rik" on their first album originally self-titled but later renamed In the Beginning. Nah, I'm not a big Tiumph fan --

I always wondered if a list has ever been made public of the most wanted songs submitted to companies. They MUST keep track to help decide what folks want. I keep track of all requests, whether they're available or not. Here's the ones I've had that aren't:
Afroman (Colt 45), B52's (Song For A Future Generation or Wig), Frank Black & The Catholics, the Cult (Ciao Baby), the Cure (Killing An Arab), Tim Curry (I Do The Rock), Damned (Stranger On The Town, Looking At You), Dirty Sweet, Echo & The Bunnymen (Do It Clean), Danny Elfman (Gratitude), Fishbone, Grand Ole Party, Jesus & Marychain, Jethro Tull (Skating Away), Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings (100 Days), Joy Division (Transmission), L7 - Pretend that We're Dead, Manu Chao (Desaparicido), Material Issue (Valerie Loves Me), the Misfits (Down Like Danzig not Jem), Morrissey (Glamorous Glue), New Order (Age Of Consent), Pixies (Gouge Away, Gigantic), Prince (Lady Cab Driver), Replacements, Jonathan Richman, Rollins Band, Rookie Card (2), Smiths (Last Night I Dreamt Somebody Loved Me), Soft Cell- Sex Dwarf (2), Wire, X (1-I Must Not Think bad Thoughts)(3), the Who-Athena, Wu Tang Clan
Someone saw this list online and sent me their DIY version of the L7 tune. It's awesome!

If you are thinking of Afroman's "Colt 45" that goes "colt 45, two zigzags, baby that's all we need. we can go to the park after cark and smoke that tumbleweed" it's listed under "Crazy Rap"
can't help with the others
