I personally prefer the stage. The one time I went to a karaoke bar and almost everyone sang from their table or walked around with the mic I didn't like it. I kept trying to figure out where the music was coming out of because with no monitor I couldn't hear well. It was a small bar with a built in sound system. I tried standing next to the KJ both thinking I might be able to find better sound there, but it was worse. I never went back.
