Hi all
here's what i use and my dilemma.

i currently run a Svideo to Phono RCA cable from my laptop into my monitor TV.
the bar i work in has a lovely 40" flatscreen which i would love to hook up to the only problem is it is about 40 feet or so away from where i set up so running a cable is a logistical nightmare.

can i use a video sender or is there anything else available that i am not aware of.

thanks in advance

Running a RCA or S-Video cable is a nightmare>? Is the problem not finding an RCA cable long enough or price or/??? Get an RF converter & convert the signal to coax, it allows you to do longer runs. Not really understanding the dilemma?

hi
the dilemma is because of the lay out of the bar it would take a hell of a long time to fix a cable up therefore i want to send the signal and wanted to know if this was possible

An X10 video sender seems like the perfect solution, if it works like they say it does. At $50, it sounds like a no-brainer for your situation. A quality long RCA would cost as much, if not more. You'd just have to hook the transmitter up to your monitor TV, and the receiver to the big screen.

By the way, I've never used a video sender before, so I'm just going off what their ad says.

I am currently using a wireless video sender with two receivers. It works fine so far, though it has only done 2 gigs.

I go from the VGA on the laptop to a VGA -> composite video converter which outputs both VGA and RCA composite video. Then I use the VGA to drive my LCD monitor for the singer, and the RCA output for a video sender which sends to two receivers attached to different TVs in the bar. They claim 200' of range, though I am only sending 30' at this time.

I'd be keen to know what model - as every one I have tried introduce a lag into the video (understandably).

I have never heard of such a thing. These things have existed for a decade, and I have never heard of a lag. In fact I would have difficulty understanding how a lag could happen on something that didn't have memory to buffer the signal....

I have two kinds. One is a $59.97 unit from Radio Shack, for which I only have one receiver. The other is:

Put the transmitter at ceiling height I have run stage graphics (video to big screen also) and sound monitor wireless. Currently I just use a 50 or 100 foot snake for all.

I do run FOH..

Ive got the radio shack set. bought them used on ebay a year ago for $25. they work great but are prone to rf interference. I had one place i set them up and the reciever was picking up the wireless security system. we had the people at the bar on the tv lol. I had to use a cord there.

I have used the X10 a few times and it has worked fine. I have only used for like a 15-18 foot run, but it worked great

With reference to the lag - I assumed it was due to the (albeit short) amount of time it took to send the signal over the air?

All I know is this: I have my satellite coming into my lounge, up to my plasma, but also out via a video sender to the bedroom. If the GF is upstair watching something, there is about a half a second lag between me hearing the TV and me hearing her TV.

I had to send this unit back -- it just doesn't work well enough. I recommend that you stick with the Radio Shack unit. (The converter link I posted after this one works well.)

I would suspect the cell phone or whatever you are communicating with.

No, I can hear my bedroom from my lounge - not over a phone or such.

No biggie - just curious!

Nikola Tesla was working on this. Actually had success on small scale tests.

Intel seem to be working with this too - and have got rid of the old issue of irradiating everyone in the process. Handy!
