Cool Lonman, I would like to hear you do it too, you can send it to me if you get a chance, and don't mind. Thanks, Ron

When (if) I ever get my voice back i'll record it. Haven't had a chance to 'rest' it for over a month.

Ain't No Other Man by Christina Aguilera

This is a tough one - I love the song, but with all her very distinct adlibs it is horrible to try and imitate.

The song I have the toughest time with because of nasty ad libs is "It Hurt So Bad" by Susan Tedeschi.
I can nail it all the way through til the end whenl she starts the oh's and the uh's etc.
If I can figure out my own version of ad lib-ing it that works and sounds good enough to pass, it would be a great song for me.
But the way it is now, I end up sounding stupid when I try to copy her exactly. And the song is just too bare to leave it out completely. It's obvious something is missing.

How about the final "Who I Am" in Supertramp's Logical Song?

Ohhhhh yeah. I can play that song just fine on the piano, but singing it is another matter, or at least hitting those high notes near the end.

BTW, Seattledrizzle, are you also Touron from the Sound Choice board? (I go by my own name on both boards, in case you're wondering.)

Had a male singer come in and sing "Beautiful" by James Blunt- He nailed it but very few can nail it - talk about special equipment required on the lower regions for most men to sing it convincingly!

Most difficult I have sung, and the one that still gets a lot of attention even today when it is an ancient song by most standards, is "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" by Celine Dion.

Second most difficult is "Crazy On You" - it has to be done completely (even the high parts) in chest voice to be convincing and Ann Wilson doesn't ever sing anything in her head voice (All Hail Ann Wilson, Queen of Female Vocalists)...and of course Barracuda closely follows that one.

For those familiar with Nightwish, their original female lead had an amazing almost operatic range that makes their songs difficult to produce - but I've never heard anyone else sing Nightwish anywhere but our show.

A kid at my son's grade school sang "You're Beautiful" in the talent show a few years ago. As I recall, he was pretty good. I seem to remember hearing at least one guy sing it for karaoke, but I don't hear it very often.

I've sung "Barracuda" in a lower key--but I won't even go near "Crazy on You" even tho' it's one of my favorite Heart songs. (Come to think of it, I've never heard ANYONE sing it for karaoke!) I probably couldn't even do it in a lower key, because then the low notes might be too low!

For me one of the more difficult songs to learn was "Waiting On The World To Change - John Mayer". It was not so much the range, but the way he sings the song. Doesn't really follow a clear concept to the melody. After endless repeats and annoying the $hit out of my roommate (LMAO) I'm able to do the song to the T. I'm not really a huge John Mayer fan, but one of my regulars mentioned, I would have the perfect voice for John Mayer songs... Next one I want to learn is "Your Body Is A Wonderland" and the Live version of Free Fallin' (awesome cover of Tom Petty). No Karaoke Version of that version, yet.

Another hard one to learn was "Seven - Prince". I nail that song now too and get requests for it over and over again. Meanwhile I can't hear that song anymore. lol
But for some reason, everybody loves that song. Even the older crowd (Good old Franky crowd) requests that song every once in a while.

I love John Mayer. I saw him in concert a few months ago--great show! I haven't heard his version of "Free Fallin'", but it's not too hard to imagine him singing that. I'll bet it's good. I attempted to sing "Bigger Than My Body" last night--now THAT's a hard song to sing! Or at least it was for me! For one thing, some of the notes were a bit low, and for another thing, I couldn't remember how parts of the melody went (even tho' I've been listening to the CD a lot). Sometimes I wish they'd put the notes up there w/the lyrics--for those of us (like me) who can read music! (Someone else here said the same thing once.) Hmm..."Waiting on the World to Change"--I may be able to sing that. I'll have to hear it a few more times.

I'm not a big fan of Prince, but I do like the song "Seven". At one of the karaoke places where I go, there's a guy who sings that really well (and also "The Beautiful Ones", which I don't like _except_ for when this guy sings it).

Yes, we are one and the same!

Another song I've tried with little success...Fame by David Bowie

I can think of MANY songs that are so incredibly difficult for one reason or another. And I would probably have to qualify my answer as to what is the most difficult (do you mean in any particular genre?) Most showtunes are usually quite difficult to pull off convincingly. And I would be willing to wager that most people here would run screaming if they were forced into singing almost any operatic piece.

So, with that said, the most technically difficult pieces (at least for me) have to be anything with a lot of coloratura; especially involving improvisation. The piece that comes particularly to mind (and is readilly available in karaoke) is "Una voce poco fa... by Rossini.

I have 5 or 6 singers including myself that perform it. Very wet reverb on the regular version. I'm curious about the acoustical version, I'm not familiar with it.

I can think of tons of songs that I can't sing very well. Too numerous to name.

An odd one was David Bowie's "Changes." Odd because it isn't a range issue. I can hit the notes okay, but the melody is difficult to follow and the timing is difficult. I tried it at karaoke once and got through it OK. I was happy with that.

Found another one. Very difficult for me, but I think I may be able to sing it passably with some practice and in a lower key: Cara Mia - Jay and the Americans -1962. I'm 50 and I find myself interested in and singing a lot of older music.

Jukebox Hero. I sing Journey songs <not all, some are too high> and I sing Ozzy but the raspy sounds in Jukebox hero is just too hard. I'm 39 and when I was 27 I was singing The Lion Sleeps Tonight and LeAnn Rimes Blue, when the woman singers realized they couldn't hit the notes and quit I would take over. Now I can't pull my underware that tight

Need my glasses to read the screen too lol
