Although hiring a KJ and running a 2nd rig seems like a simple suggestion it turns ut to be a very complictaed venture. It's a entirely different ...
Being an employer you have a lot more responsibility and more to WORRY about than running solo. Many KJ's run multiple rigs and I even contemplated doing it in the past ... NOT now! After you pay the KJ $75-$100 the balance wouldn't be worth the investment and headache !

I actually had a second setup with different songs than my first - all legal songs, with their own book, etc. But when I computerized, I combined the two...OOPS....Now only one system. It was a well put together system and I seldom had to buy songs for it as it was a system I used for things other than bar shows where a lot of songs are required.

I'm sure you have plenty of duplicate songs in your 18,000 song collection. Divide your 18,000 into two separate systems; one with maybe 12,000 songs and the other for the newer gig at 6,000 songs.wouldn't hurt to try it out and if it doesn't work out in the long run, you would have a set of back up equipment for those times when your main set up might need some repair work done to it.

If I did that i'd only have about 2000 songs for the book & not the best versions nor necessarily popular songs. Do not have alot of duplicates.

There is a "bar" at the lake about 2 miles from here that is only open from March to October. I play there on Sunday when they are open. They cannot heat or A/C the place because it is an old barn that would cost a fortune to heat, so they close down. It is very profitible during the summer because of the lake residents. Maybe it is similar to this situation.
