Well, I do read most if not all the post faithfully, just not the type to jump in and talk for talking sakes. I usually comment on technical issues if I can help others out with what I know. I do love reading about other people's posts. A lot of people are wonderful writers. I am not much on writing but love reading.

We have to get Kappy out of retirement, but I think he was busy with Paula in the singers forum.

Yea when I say I don't know Kappy, I just mean what you said Ron, that I never officially met him like I have you & Eben & others here. I have seen Kappy's creative writing before & he seems very intelligent, I agree.
I personally think you write just fine Eben, in fact u r quite interesting & if I was more into karaoke Q's & A's, I'm sure I would visit the tech forum more than I already do now but it's nice that you bee bop around & share your thoughts here & there
I get such a warm feeling when I come here, you people are truly Amazing!

Don't want to beat a dead horse here, but after my last post here, I remembered was wrong about Ebens writing, I do know something about it. I remembered being impressed several times a while back with the way Eben has a unique way of explaining technical things, that makes it easier for people like me to understand. Don't think that it's unnoticed, and unappreciated. Just telling it the way it is.....

Kappy ? Oh yeah, the guy that types incessantly just to read his own content. Forgot all about him. Never even noticed he wasn't around. Maybe he got a life ? Doubt it.

Hey Kappy, It's nice to finally meet you! Heard a lot bout you from these nice folks here as well as what I've read... we were all hoping you'd show face sooner than later. So what do you do with all your points you have accrued cause I haven't a clue what to do with mine
Cheers,
Andy

I saw a new dodge the other day with temp tags, and I said to myself, what an awesome looking car, I could really like to have one of those. I would have to have the Hemi (it's a guy thing) and with the right mods that would be an incredible street machine. I think the one I saw was a Hemi Challenger.

Hello everybody (and Jerry )
My pleasure regarding the points Andygurl, Jerry, you want me to buy you a homie ? hehe
Ron, Singing is brutally difficult. It's going to be a year in about a month since I first started, and some of what I did in January sounds better. I just hope one day years from now I make some progress. I don't feel I am. Range is expanding however the supposed "comfort range" isn't getting better. I'm quite sure the reason for this is just as Billy and quite a few others have told me meaning "drop the falsetto for now" and work on your natural singing register, or "real voice" and diaphragmatic signing. I'm not taking lessons, just getting a lot of help online. Nice thing is people are being honest and that's ESSENTIAL ! The problem *I* am dealing with is that while I know I am learning, I spend my time around singers so I don't comare myself to those learning (for the first time at around our age which naturally takes a little longer anyway), instead I compare myself to those that I think are the excellent sounding singers. Problem with that of course is that it doesn
t allow for MY voice, and I suppose I never have.. I wan't to replicate those I like... Anyway, It's frustrating, taking a LONG time. Now I'm starting to enter contests (not to win) but just to get used to competing in an area I'm lousy at. I need to learn how to "not place" or to lose, and let it roll off so singing is a great place for me to learn how to lose and feel it's OK... I really want to be able to shed ALL ego regarding this.. Something I was never able to do in music and in not being able to do that, It made what I loved to do miserable much of the time... But all that being said, I'm enjoying the long haul, and to be honest I'd NEVER have had the patience to give this the long long time it takes to develop when I was younger and everything had to result in immediate progress... Yeah, Singing is hard for those of us that are not naturals, and don't control our breathing have respiratory stuff going on etc.. Toughest new thing I've ever learned to do. Maybe year two will be a little better .. dunno
Sorry to hijack the thread... That's what I've been up to, trying to learn how to sing, mix, and getting ready to retire from the work force (even though I work from home)..
Anyway... How long does learning to sing well (assuming a person will) usually take ? Still can't hear myself.. What sounds decent tonight and tomorrow I might find sounds awful to me in four days... That is another aspect of this area that amazes me... Mood and physical condition not only affect the way we sing at the time, but also how we hear ourselves... THis is very different than anything I've EVER attempted... Probably should've taken up a different hobby that's more doable for those of us in our 50's like Gymnastics or Boxing... Something easier to learn
