Congratulations darlin, I gave it up about 16 years ago, but have slipped a few times this year while drinking, I really don't want to start that again...

I did get a laugh out of that last statement Kap, but I think you need to get over being so hard on yourself.
When I heard one song you did, it sounded better than I expected, because the way you portray yourself. Even Paula had good things to say about your ability from what I remember.
Like I mentioned before , we are the same age(close) and we have been singing the same length of time (little ironic) so I hope to take an easy route , and learn something from your efforts.
One thing that has slowed my progress lately was the allergy season. It's hard for me to sing when my throat is scratchy, and needs constant clearing. Hopefully, now I can get back on track. If anyone has any input at all on that, I'd love to hear it.
Ron.......

According to my hubby, singing takes a lifetime to learn... it's not something you just pick Up On... to this day he is still learning new things & new techniques. For instance, if he was to take Up opera singing, that is a whole nuther faze to singing and would take months if not years to learn & perfect. I haven't even found my own voice yet (meaning I'm still not comfortable within my own voice) & I've been singing for over 2 years now but I'm in it for the long haul & just takin' it day by day. Not sure if I'll ever come close to Steven or even some of the other singers in the Showcase but I'm having a darn good time & I never compare myself to anyone cause I feel we all have something different to offer. The most loathed thing I see is when someone says "wow u r the best singer here"... I think that is sooo ignorant to say cause it's only a matter of opinion... for example if Paul Rodgers & Robert Plant subbed a song here, you can't say who is the best cause they're both excellent in their own right, they both have something different to bring to the table.
Singing should give you a sense of Happiness within, don't take it On & get all frustrated or disappointed, embrace it & feel it!
If I was to buy a Challenger, it would most definately have a hemi engine, no ifs ands or buts bout it! My 1st car was a Pontiac LaMans that had a hemi & I would race all the muscle cars in town & win everytime
Take care of that throat Ron, drink V-8 juice... it's a miracle worker for the whole body!

It is a reassuring thing to hear that singing takes time, because I have always assumed that until recently, either you were born with it ,or you weren't. I'm sure some are, but for the rest of us, there's hope.
I do have a lot of fun singing on my way home at night, and it makes my 1 1/2 commute go by before I know it.
I know v-8 is good for you, but is it really good for your throat/voice?
So you used to race the boys with your muscle car....a NJ redneck gal? Your'e not into mudbogs, and guns, and stuff.........

That's really cool Vicki that Adam is taking Up opera, I remember when he did that song "Hallelujah", he definetely has that quality to persue it!
In regards to the V-8 juice Ron, it doesn't necessarily get rid of the scratchy throat, it's more like a preventive medicine so to speak. Steven & I have both been On V-8 for most of our lives & we rarely get sick nor scratchy throats. Now if u r yelling & screaming at someone and that causes scratchyness or pain, well then I can't help ya there
My hubby says even a tone deaf person can learn to sing... it's just over coming obstacles.
I'm really not a redneck gurl Ron... I was born & raised in the city & raced with the best of em' in my hay day & no I'm not into mudbogs or guns or anything like that, I'm quite feminine indeed... I love ballet slippers & tap shoes & playing dress Up

I know your'e a NJ girl, and wasn't questioning your femininety, I can see that. Besides when I watch the sopranos, there's no rednecks that I can see in Jersey. As far as the dress up thing goes, one lucky hubby!...

Geesh, I go away for a few days and look at the threadjacking happening here. Good to see you are around Kappy. I have been so busy, I can't log in everyday anymore. A new startup company and we are shipping for Christmas. I may PM you to get your opinion on it. I will let you know about the product then.

Hello Eben,
Thank you for the compliment earlier in the thread. Unfortunately my writing skills are starting to deteriorate. I'm finding (with the memory going) I must resort to my dictionary for proper spelling (as well as definitions) of words more complex than "the", "cat", "dog" etc... Assuming I wish to reuse the same words I had to look up (an hour later) It's back to the dictionary. Enjoy the 40's because assuming this is what happens when people hit 50 years of age it's nothing to be overly excited about.
How is the girl coming along that was in the accident a few years back Eben ? What ever came of that ? Is she mobile ? How's the site going ? Still up ? I haven't been doing much besides trying to learn how to sing lately. Hope all is well..
Threadjacking eh ? Pretty coincidental that it started happening around the time I made an appearance
Btw, Does this site have spellchecerk ? I forgot..hehe, I truly did.. I no longer see it. I wonder if during the forum overhaul it was done away with.

Please feel free to PM. or Email me anytime you wish to, I will get right back to you. I always check my Emails.. My Email btw is --Steve_Kaplan at Comcast (dot) net

, you still have sense of humor retained at 50s. I am looking forward to that.
As far as my ex. She is doing well. She is back to work full time. She bought a special van she can drive so she is mobile in her wheel chair. Unfortunately, she is bound to the wheel chair for the rest of her life. She does have her moments though, when she gets frustrated but mostly she keeps her spirits up. She also bought a small condo so she can be closer to her work. Thanks for asking.
I haven't been singing too much myself. I do have a couple of gigs, one doing DJ and one KJ coming up. Something to keep me busy. I will send you an email soon on your email address. Thanks.

Yeah Bab's... I've been spending so much time here on the road singing with the big acts I haven't had a chance to get into trouble.. Gotten kicked out of numerous bands but offers come up as soon as I get axed so really busy !! Oh btw...send my kisses to
Incidently speaking of cats, I mentioned my allergy awhile back..
Well unfortunately I had an episode while singing with Nazareth just this past week. One of the guys had cat dander on his shirt, and..well, to make a long story short... This was my last gig with the Nazareth Tribute band
