There is no best just what you want it to do for your needs and ease of use. You can have all the bells & whistles out there, but user interface starts to get more complicated, or you can have basic players that are just that, but really simple to use. What exactly do you want it to do? Most of the software have demos for you to try.
Something to keep in mind is make sure your cd/dvd drive is compatible with the ripper that is included (IF it's included - some programs do not include any & this is an added expense) or you may need to get something separate to rip your discs.

Thank for the reply. I do karaoke 5 nights a week. With my Cavs. Very simple with over 25,000 songs. Been having some problems with it and tech support is not all that. I have everything backed up by external driver. Was gonna go with sax ans dotie and was told rox box was better. Don't know which way to go just looking for advice. Thanks

IMHO RoxBox is way ahead of Sax. But, you might think about autOKdj as well which I think is still better than Sax and it's freeware.

I had the premeir upgrade on my JB199's and took it off due to the extra overhead. To much show and not enough go. It looked cool but was cutting into my ability to dial in my singers. Loman has it down in the fact there are many vairables into what you want to do. Making my singers sound good and properly dialed in with the correct effect for the style of track is more important to me then other bells & whistles.

Frank with RoxBox gives phone support. Rip-n zip has it's own namer database or can use KJ Pro if you have it.

Mouse over or click for details

RoxBox is the most efficient and has the fastest search engine. With a mouse click you can sort by artist or title ascending or descending. It uses real windows which means you can set it with with windows properties (color etc). All columns can be sized or sorted by drag and drop. The divider between the search and que pane can be dragged for the desired ratio. With the ini file you can set several preferences. When queing a singer you can select record and it makes a wav file in the folder of your choice. There is an option to record all. I have recorded complete 4 hour shows with no problem. The updates are slow because Frank is a real KJ and does shows in the DFW area and busy. AS one who as done digital karaoke for over 8 years and used them all this is the software of my choice.

With 2 players auto fade (adjustable from 1-30sec) and the ability to save and load play lists I can switch between karaoke and DJ on a dime. I have sat 12 year olds down and have them hosting in 2 minutes.

CompuHost has the most professional package. Their combination of features is by far the best available today.

I own MTU Hoster, CompuHost, and Siglos Professional, which would be the three leading standalone hosting packages.

(Because I do not like the reliability of Winamp-based setups like Sax and Dotties and autokdj, I don't even consider those.)

Compuhost is a cut above. I have converted three KJs in my area to use it. All are ecstatic with it. I have watched a few people here convert to it, and they seem happy as well. It has a great combination of functionality and reliability.

It's scrolling singer marquee with promo trailer is a feature that people don't talk about enough. It helps promote future shows (both for you and the venue). It also keeps singers showing up in a timely fashion, which makes the show faster-moving. One of the big singer complaints I hear as I attend different karaoke shows is the time that it takes to get singers up. (And no, filler music doesn't make singers happy.) With CompuHost, they know they are up and it cuts down those delays.

I haven't found anything the other hosting programs do that it doesn't do as well or better. It is true that you have to find something to do your books, and you should buy the $39.00 PowerKaraoke to do ripping and converting. But the promotion features alone make CompuHost pay for itself in no time flat. It is the best in the business, and people *do* notice.

Frank has a sound engine which compares to Sonar with ASIO sound drivers. Soon to come is version 3 which will blow Compuhost out of the water..

Although it brings out sound with sound cards like the Delta 44 it even enhances Codec 97 onboard sound.

I point to the last paragaph'

Quote:
Interface support is normally restricted to Microsoft Windows, since other operating systems (e.g. Apple's Mac OS X or Linux) do not have such mixer latency problems. In Windows Vista, KMixer has been removed and replaced by a new WaveRT port driver. WaveRT cannot provide synchronized audio to multiple devices and does not support external clocks.[1]

Convert to Nix!!! All the audio engineers and pros are.

I run Sax for Karaoke and Mixmieister for DJ and my shows were always a mix of the two so I tried to make both dancers and singers happy. On this machine I didn't want to try to work with S&D so I am trying Karma as a free test version. has anyone tried Karma in a show?

I honetly have never had a problem with S&D but I am running the older version because I didn't like the way the upgrade changed but I am a creature of habit. I'm running 2.1.33 lol how old is that? it was old when I adopted it... lol
