Hi,

Has anyone used Cubase LE for recording karaoke track with your vocal?

I bought an external soundcard(Tascam US122L) and a mic. I have disabled the inbuilt soundcard in my pc so that I can use US122L. I have connected my mic to the external soundcard. In Cubase, I have set the input and output buses as US122L. I can import an audio track(karaoke) and play it. But as soon as I click the record button, the karaoke track gets erased and my vocal gets recorded on top of it.

Does anyone know how to keep them separate and record them?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm affraid I haven't used Cubase, I'm more of a Sonar guy. I do know they are real picky on the drivers as far as WDM and ASIO. So maybe you can find the answer here:

or here: This one pertains to your Tascam

Good luck

Are you sure you are not arming track1 (the Karaoke track) for recording?

I have Cubase LE (which came with my Focusfire), but I mostly use Protools, Sonar and Audition.

Regards,
Ron

You got me Ron.... I was trying to record both the track when I should record enable only my vocal and just play the karaoke track. I was thinking both tracks should get recorded in to the project to be able to mix both of them. (I'm sorry, i'm new to this)

But after Ron pointed out, I tried disabling the record button for the karaoke track and record my vocal and do an export audio mix it works like a charm... Thanks for your time guys.....

I am delighted that it worked out for you. I must admit that Cubase takes a while to tame. While at it, you might also want to check out Adobe Audition (ver 1.5) which is probably the most widely used program by us Karaoke junkies in the Showcase!

Hope to hear some of your songs in the near future.

Take care,
Ron
