i am currently using winamp with no problems with the songs that i have currently on my harddrive. I just started to rip my cdg collection and i am new to the whole ripping thing. I am thinking that my drive on my computer may not be compatible with cdgs. I have never actually try playing the disc when it is in the computer. Thanks guys, i really appreciate the help. Oh and yes i am trying to rip them as cdg+mp3. Setting seems normal, really nothing to mess with. output settings CBR (constant bit rate)is 192kbps VBR (varsible bit rate) is at 4, stereo mode and quality is at normal

what format are the tracks that you are ripping in?
are the tracks you rip zipped? the tracks im trying to rip are from actual cdg disc and the tracks that do work are from zipped files which are in cdg+mp3 so in other words mp3+g. Im trying to rip them in that format so they can play in the winamp. thanks

You need MP3 Toolz to zip the files. It's a free download. Go to Knightshow's post where he provides a link to the download!
Winamp will play unzipped CDG+MP3. You must click the MP3 file to get it to work in winamp.
Not to get you too confused right away, the CDG file will also play if you click on it providing that you have Karaoke Studio Builder (another free download). That software controls the start, pause, stop and size of the screen. If you install Karaoke Studio Builder and select the CDG file to play, winamp will not be at all involved! Karaoke Studio Builder, furthermore, will play bin files!

Eric, I didn't want to tell him about the .cdg part as he's only asking about winamp.
Also, there may be a tiny problem with HOW he's ripping with audiograbber.
I'm using version 1.82. You have to have either LAME or another compression software set up in the "mp3 settings" part of the program.
FYI: This is how to copy karaoke tracks with audiograbber. Assuming you've set up the bitrate and the encoder.
1.) Launch the program. If you have the karaoke disc in the appropriate drive, you should see the tracks in the initial white screen in the main window. Now, look at the top gray line of the Audiograbber window. The one where it's got the four basic options... "File, CD, Settings and Help"
2.) Click the CD and a drop-down menu will pop up.
a.) mouse over the option "Grab CD Tracks (karaoke)"
b.) go to the fourth option "grab to .cdg + compressed file"
The program SHOULD rip to your designated folder. You should get both the .mp3 file and the .cdg file.
Note: You can use the "Freedb" icon to find the disc if it's been already uploaded to the database... then you can label the tracks BEFORE ripping them and they'll be already labeled, as opposed to labeling them afterwards.

For those of you familiar with Sax N Dottie
Am I doing something wrong or am I correct in saying that the zipped files used by S&D must have been zipped from BIN files. Regardless of what file I zip for RoXBox it plays fine. Files I zipped from any format other than BIN do not work for me in S&D!

I rip mine directly from disc to mp3g (mp3 + cdg) and then use MP3 Toolz to zip. Never had an issue playing them in S & D or any other hosting software that claims to play .zip files.

I rip mine to MP3+G Zipped using PowerKaraoke and have never experienced what the poster was experiencing. I swear by it and won't be using AUdiograbber for anything but regular audio tracks.

Not to get you too confused right away, ericlater...
* Karaoke Builder
* Karaoke Builder Player
* Karaoke Builder Studios
There's No Karaoke Studio Builder
Karaoke Builder Player - (another free download)

emmy20000,
Knightshow's Method is Very Cost Effective.
Please pay Very Close Attention to the Versions he uses and Do Not Update.
Be aware of the DRIVE he uses and note how he handles the Netframe!
Kind Regards

I will say that even if it DOESN'T recognize the graphics, the audio at the very least will rip.
From your earlier post on the audiograbber having the ASPI error, you may need to reinstall those drivers. With some XP and Vista systems, they are integrated into the operating systems, but some older softwares don't recognize the newer drivers. So you need to install an older one so the software can fully install.
I am at work right now, but I can email them or post the link to an online site where you can get those when I get home in 11 hours!
Or you can try to find them online by doing a search for ASPI drivers for your specific operating system.
Also uninstall ALL other programs for ripping karaoke or media that you're not using, install the drivers and then reinstall audiograbber. If you want to use the other software, you'll have to ask someone that knows about THAT stuff.

What drive are you using? If you get nothing (no audio nor graphics) with Power CD+G Burner then most likely your drive does not support CD+G subcodes.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "go to play"? Have you tried copying the files to another location? Tried playing the MP3 portion with Windows Media Player? Downloading Karafun and trying to play with that?
