My prices as well stay the same if it's on my regularly scheduled days as well. Only time it increases is if we are doing extra hours for a special event then it's an hourly charge over the normal.

Thanksgiving is a very good night surprisingly. Our club used to close up early Christmas Eve, they stayed open last year & had one of their biggest sales night of the year which surprised the HELL out of me.

That owner BETTER keep his eye on what the other is doing or THAT OWNER WILL go out of business. You ALWAYS have to be aware of what the competition is doing. If not, you will fall behind and become UNCOMPETITIVE!! Its called keeping up with the competition!! Basic concept of being in and staying in business!! And in the bar business its one of the main reasons Karaoke has spread and stays as prominent as it is! And interms of staying competitve its one of the driving reasons for the proliferation of laptop/computer based karaoke systems.

Here's a real life example I participated in awhile ago: The owner of the place I KJ at came to me and asked me to take him on a karaoke bar-hopping adventure to visit and observe what other successful Karaoke places in our immediate area were doing differently than him.
As we stopped at several places I pointed out that they did this or that, had this or that type equipment, various sizes of song lists, computerized or cavs, type of crowd, days of operation, menus, thier advertising, promos, websites, etc etc. So he got an education about his competition that evening. As a result he then made some changes, added some things, stopped doing some other things and basically responded to things he saw being done by THE COMPETITION.

Point well made, Kurt.

However, I was trying to illustrate the fact that the venue owner was MORE concerned with what the other guy is doing rather than concentrating on doing a GOOD job at his OWN bar.
When you concentrate too much on what the other guy is doing, and not enough on what YOU are doing (or SHOULD be doing or not), then you cannot focus on doing the best job you can.
He's simply too busy being concerned with the other guy to try to improve his own bar.
That was the point I was trying to illustrate.

Diafel,

I haven't been able to keep up with all of the details of every post you have made, but I will grant you that some of what you have shared has been misunderstood.

This is a problem I have encountered myself on several occasions. I realize there are a multitude of reasons why such an event could occur:

- Poor choice of words
- Poor punctuation
- Long and run-on sentences
- Leaving out words as you type
- Mis-spellings of simple "connecting" words that cause confusion as to meaning
- Confusing use of pronouns such as "he" when there are several males involved

I believe, furthermore, that the biggest cause for a problem is the "mind-set" of the reader. Whether that mind-set comes about because of their biases regarding a particular topic (pro or con), or their assumptions about what the poster believes and who he/she is. If someone likes you, they might make an effort to understand what you have said. If you are not liked by someone, they will go out of their way to parse every word and "roast" you if they can.

I once made a post suggesting that we be "little slower on the draw" about accusing any newbie of pirating music, but rather tell them there are certain subjects we avoid discussing on this forum. Another poster who is not very fond of some of my ideas reponded to my post by chastising me for suggesting that we should accuse somene of pirating.

Misinterpretation of anothers thinking, particularly if warranted by a poorly worded post, is understandable. That is not a problem. The problem is that the "accuser", and that's what he became, went onto debate with me what I had said after I explained that he had mis-interpreted my post. The poster would not "backdown" and I was accused, basically, of lying about what I had said in the first place.

Now, I'm not sure for what purpose any member here wants to debate the meaning and intentions of what someone else has posted. Shouldn't what someone says they mean, become the meaning of what they said? I would think so? But experience on this forum has shown met that on occasions my explanation of what I said had no weight with my attacker.

It would seem that in order to end any such debate, one is expected to: acknowlege the error of his/her thinking; grovel; and beg forgiveness for having made such a repulsive posting?

There are some posters I find who can barely spell and have difficulty expressing their thoughts clearly. Nonetheless, I make an effort to work through their posts and try to best understand what their thoughts are. Sometimes that's best accomplished by viewing what others have posted afterwards; sometimes others get it before me!
