I'm looking into purchasing a new set of speakers and ran across these and would like to know what y'all think.

Please give me a serious answer

I guarantee you this set of specs is as bogus as can be. 28Hz? Sure, but at minus how many dB? 50?

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Walk the other way, that's my advice.

Too good to be true. The thing that turned me off right off the bat was the type of connectors it uses. No 'pro' speaker will use RCA jacks for the connection. Minimum 1/4" or Speakon jacks.

These are pretty hard to believe as well, even the best pro audio speakers have a hard time pushing these figures.

They might be good for a garage workshop though!

The specs don't add-up 99db sens with a 100 oz mag producing 28HZ?

I would stay as far away as you can. I purchased a pair of no name speakers before on ebay, pretty much the same thing. I threw them out after the second time using them, that's how horrible they sounded.

Never be cheap on a speaker. You really get, what you pay for.

Yeah I see they have 1/4" not RCA - which are 'phono' jacks. 1/4" are 'phone' jacks.
Seeing the pic of the thing reinforces my thought though, looks to be cheaply made. Would be surprised if the cabinet was more than 1/2" thick.

These actually look like swap meet specials.

This is your lucky day, you can hear from someone who already made the same mistake that you are about to make. I bought a pair of Acoustic Audio 15" cabinets from the same company-The Deep Discount when I was first starting out and knew nothing about audio gear. I couldn't believe what a great deal they seemed to be based on the specs. They are junk. They make sound, but compared to a quality loudspeaker it's night and day. The crossovers are the cheapest crap they can find, the handles and jack plates are plastic. The drivers are the cheapest generic speakers they can source.

That's how I learned about the different levels of quality in audio equipment. This was about a year and a half ago.

When you buy Electro Voice, Yamaha and some other reputable brands you get much better sound quality. Better components means better sound and far less equipment failure.

Even Behringer speakers are much better than those Acoustic Audio speakers. If you don't want to spend a lot of money, research Carvin and Behringer speakers.

If you buy Electro Voice you won't regret it.

Stay away from the entry level Peavey PR stuff, but Peavey does makes some good speakers if you have a powerful amp and a strong back.

I agree with everybody, but how'd these guys get a 99.5 on 112000 transactions?.......you surely aren't going to get 70lbs delivered for 10 bucks either......

They tell you Cousin Guido will visit you if you give them bad feedback...or else they haven't sold many of those speaker setups.

Ok I'm convinced end of story.....unless the bidding stays under $10.00 I just might get em to see if I can blow them up. or hey the case might be worth that much and build my own insides. Don't think I could build a case that cheap.

WOW A $700 speaker for $79 !!!

Everything above is right on. I just had this same conversation with a friend who owns a club and wanted some input on an install. The specs and marketing BS for all the speakers he was looking at sound great on paper, but he was curious why they were only a few hundred each. It's because every bit of them is junk. Cheap drivers, magnets, coils, crossovers and cabinet construction. Same theory goes for Amps or even car audio. You really have to listen to speakers and amps, matched up together, in person to hear what you're getting. I've even brought my own amps into stores or rented their demos to listen to speakers before buying. The only speakers I've ever bought sight unseen were EVs. You get what you pay for

Had I of been around and read this and clicked the link... I would have bid on them no hesitation;)

I see they went for $35.

I have a set I've had for, gosh, I guess about 6 years. I bought them off some lady who's son had bought them "from a van selling overstock" in Portland.

Needless to say, I got them from her pretty cheap. I don't KJ, mine is only ran at home, and the occasional family get together at a community hall or something, but if anyone over-abuses speakers with cranked volume... I do. And other than the cabs being kinda poorly made, mine are hanging in there just fine. (one cab loosened up, again most likely my fault, but I rigged it so that the bass doesn't split it in half, Lol, like it was sounding about ready to)

I did rewire them when I got my new mixer a coupla years ago.

They are not pro material, but again, mine have seriously been put to the test... and still with me. I'd have gladly paid that price for an extra set. For $35? No biggie if they bailed after only 1 year. (imo anyhow)

(Odie's heard them, he could vouch... they're really not too bad)

Again, I'm not a KJ, don't think they'd do for a bar atmosphere, but for home use they're pretty okee-dokee.

Wait...... (me and my big mouth jumping the gun..) I don't think those are the same ones I have, now that I look closer.

Mine are even cheaper than those I think.

(acoustic studio monitor, i think they hail from someone's business-in-the-basement place in Canada or something like that, if I recall right)

But... they're still going- and I wont replace them until they bite the dust. For $35 I'd have tried those others. Heck, if they are crummy sounding.... they could be turned into new custom lamps for the music room. (hollowed out, 4 ft light pole inserted through the top, nice paisley fringed lampshade, blue bulb... it could happen)
