They could be talking about Tech N9ne. He is a hip-hop rap artist that is very fast in his delivery of the lyrics.

Well if that's who it is, not in my shows! No hard core rap allowed.

I agree with Lonman. No hardcore rap. Heck I dread when someone picks an eminim song out of my book.

I don't list them. SO they can't pick them.

I tend to not list any "hardcore" anything - nothing too deep into any territory that may turn off regulars.
As for rap... Tricky. I list some soft rap, Eminem and so on, the chart stuff. But nobody I have heard can do it well. It's usually chosen either as a joke (so fair play) or by the 18 year old wannabe gangstas, who then just look stupid.

Why Not??? the more styles you have the more people will come in...now Im not a big rap fan either but it is one of the most popular styles out there. I dont believe in censorship

I believe in pleasing the masses. In the last year, 2 rap songs have been selected. Hardly "most popular" in my venues...

No but certain genres can bring trouble makers in. Plus the fact that I do not list anything with profanity to comply with club owner rules & 90% of rap like that just don't make the book because of the language alone.
We never had that rule before back in the early 90's, but the crowds starting getting rowdy & fights were breaking out often enough that the owners said no more come about 95. I disagreed with it at first stating we'd lose our crowd, well, we did! What I didn't expect was GAINING a better singing crowd, more behaved & spending more overall. I quit the argument after that & now agree with it!
Also maybe it's the most popular out there where you are, rap is pretty much a dying genre - or at least not quite as popular as it used to be around here. The hard core metal/rock has taken over that position.

I'm sure you're a fan of Insane Clown Posse, Homiez is on www.selectatrack.com as well as some 90s rap on that site too. On www.sbikaraoke.com they are always wanting feedback and suggestions of songs. So if you're a fan of the Wu-Tang Clan feel free to request some of their hits that I've sent in.
There is a Krunkaoke (Hip Hop R&B only karaoke) venue in my town and it's always welcome. But when you're in a regular venue and you're Onyx's Slam is between a duet of Islands in the Stream and some drunk college girl belting out I love Rock N Roll ala Brittney not Joan. It is hard to get the crowd going besides just your friends.
I know all about free speech but for most of these guys in the forum, they're KJs and have to make a living. So cash is king and rules are rules. That's why there's numerous venues.
