perhaps instead of worrying about the others, we should worry about ourselves for awhile. Besides, you are worried about getting invaded, your buddy Bush has our guys spread around the world so much, we have no defense here in the US..now THAT is scary. Why is it always about the boogy man. why cant we reach out to our brothers that are in trouble here in america and help them. with all the money we spend on foreign goods, no country in the world wants us gone..we are their meal ticket..

Mikey, don't cast me with a "redneck attitude"... that would be my hubby. (who is now out in the garage, constructing a flagpole so that he can hang a republican flag in our front yard... ) Sure, I guess my values run to old-fashioned. I don't believe in abortion, for any reason at all besides a definate threat to the mother's life. I don't believe in gun control, thieves and murderers will always have them, so we the people should have the right to carry one to shoot back with.

I have lots of unanswered questions about Obama. I don't believe media hype, but I do wonder at the sources, and why so many things were left unanswered. I'm hoping they don't answer themselves in an ugly way. Worried about his loyalty to the US? Sure I am. Worried about his religion? You bet. Worried he has anti-American motives for running for prez of the United States? Hope not, but time will tell.

Give him a chance? Sure I will. I'm of the old school "innocent until proven guilty".... but it doesn't make me any less scared of "what if". And that's my honest opinion/thoughts. Nothing anyone says can change them. (except the man himself, and his actions..or lack of)

One thing that I'm worried about also is, not directly tied to him (but it is, in a cause and effect sorta way).... : Is this going to start a big black vs. white thing in the US? You have black people gloating, like this was a race war only- and you have white people seething that their new leader will be a black man. (and it's only day one)

Like I said, god help us, I hope I'm only being a drama queen. I hope he's a good man, and all he promised to be. But again, I don't believe we've seen everything uncovered yet.

If I had any experience about war? You have to be kidding me? I could give you lessons about war you have never heard, and I am not talking about me physically bashing you. I am talking about taking you to school in lessons on politics. I hold my masters in the subject. I dont think you want to go there with me.

I do have personal experience with war. I spent time in the Persian Gulf, not on a ship but on land with a weapon in my hand eating the sand and doing what I could to protect my country. What experience do you have? Dont try to make this personal. You have your ax to grind, do it somewhere else because you wont get anywhere here. Call me a redneck if you will. Maybe I am, but I am an educated one. lol

I would rather have a president ready and willing to fight for my country than a panty waist who will bow down and kiss some other country's butts just to keep them happy, and I certainly dont want a president who is foolish to think he can negotiate with muslim nations and bring lasting peace. I have studied that question under the instruction of a professor who was an Iranian ambassador under the leadership of the Shaw of Iran in the '70's. He would be the first to tell you, that if you are not muslim, they want you dead! As they continue to prove, if we are not killing them, they are killing each other. In the words of this particular professor, the only thing the occupants of mid-eastern countries do understand is war. It is a way of life to them. War is a part of their religion and a vital part of their government. It is hidden, but if you study the Koran, as we did in this professor's class, it is there plain as day, and the Koran is what mid-eastern governments base their governmental policies on. The American people are often mis-informed in regard to what is really going on in government.

God damned tree hugger!!

Wow, that does feel better:)

Lol... I wasn't being smart with that remark. Wait, hell, yes I was. If a days goes by that I'm not called some form of redneck, it's a rare one.

But I'm not the uneducated/trailer trash/white ho variety. I'm the "cool" kind of redneck. (you know, pickup trucks, loud guitars, that kinda thing...) haha

(who's obviously had one too many Benadryl's while trying to ease the migraine tonight) LMAO

Be peaceful you guys. Hell, we should be proud we have the right to vote. And matter of fact, to come to places like this and publicly hash it out.

I have indeed been reading quite a bit about what the other countries are having to say right now. Most all of them were unanimously holding their breaths that Obama would win.

I did read one forum where a person from Germany stated "America needs Obama to win, they think they are too almighty and I think a minority president would take them down a notch or two".

 ....

Germany followed Hitler blindly...I don't believe they are qualified to judge or even have an opinion. They should stick to making cars

why do guys like you talk and talk about kicking everyones (@$%&#!) that gets in your way. perhaps thats the problem with us right now. the arab countries dont just hate us, but our allies do as well. they see us as brash bullies who have a "die before i kill you" mantra...sound familiar. i appreciate your service to this country. i really do, but until guys like you throttle down a little, my kid and his kids are always poised to die on a battlefield..just like the thousands who have given their lives for what? so ungrateful morons can run us out of town..we will have to retreat from that place sooner or later (unless you think its worth it to run our economy into a hole so deep it wont matter who invades us) and when we do retreat, was it worth it? ask my dead friends mom...she has no pride in our country since her son died for what she refers to as "nothing"...i doubt anyones opinion can trump a mom who has laid her son to rest cause he was blown to pieces just driving down a road. no gunfight, no warning, no reason. his convoy was attacked by those he was there to defend...is that really honorable?

Mikey, did it ever occur to you that one of the basic tactics of the military is to spread it out! We have bases around the world for a reason. That reason is to make sure that if we were attacked, we could mount a defense at a moments notice and strike where we needed.

Not only that, have you ever considered that if you dont spread them out, they become sitting ducks for just a couple of well placed bombs? I am not always looking for the boogy man! However, it is imperative that we never let down our guard and think we are safe. We are only going to be safe if we keep our safety at the forefront of our minds. I am not expecting someone to attack us, but it has happened twice in the last 70 or so years, Pearl Harbor and the Twin Towers. Mikey, our Pentigon was hit! That means we have to do what we can to keep this country safe for your kids. We can not take chances. To do so, is to give these countries who dont like us, all the opportunity in the world to hurt us.

We can negotiate with them. We can work on our relationships with them, but we should also be wise enough to know they might not be truthful with us. They might just tell us they like us and then destroy us. Is that what you want? I dont think you do. I am not looking for the boogy man, but I certainly want to keep the boogy man discouraged from trying anything.

Great. Now I have a craving.Wonder how a snickers bar will go down with Benadryl? Lol

I do love swiss chocolate. Oh heck, I love any kind...just not dark chocolate, gotta be milk chocolate.

I better get to bed. I can imagine EVERY customer who comes in or calls in tomorrow will ask "did you watch the election?!?!" excitedly and want to talk about it for a half hour... I best be rested so I can be on my toes. (or perhaps dozing through it all would be better?) :D

What's melamine? (is that a trick word for caramel?)

Just kidding. Hmmm... really? Certainly with all our factories here they'd be american made? Then again, what am I saying? I'm on a computer probably made in China, wearing a t-shirt probably made in China, half listening to the tv which I'm sure is from China... I better read my candy labels.

I don't even think we have a snickers in the house. ( i was just being funny) I know I have half a reeses on the headboard (probably hard by now) ... I shared the missing half with Tucker when he stayed the night saturday:) I don't eat much candy really. But I'm sure I'll read every label from here on out, Lol, thanks for the heads up.

Isn't melamine a dish?

Mikey, for the record, I was not trying to come off in that manner. I am sorry about that. I have had friends die on the battlefield. I held a bleeding buddy while he choked on his own blood, but if you want to know how he felt? I can tell you, he was proud to serve his country. When it comes to it, most times you do have to fight for what you want. I am glad we have always been ready and able to fight. Do I like it? No, but I do realize it is necessary. You just cant quit because someone gets hurt! You have to go win so their bloodshed was not in vain. I hated to lose my friend, but he died with honor. I am not a bully, but I wont be bullied. I would always fight. I dont think our country is full of, nor has it been run by bullies. We have done what, at the time, seemed right. It was for the preservation of our country. I am truely sorry your kid got beat up. There are always going to be bullies. I told mine, sometimes you just gotta kick a little _ _ _.
We dont always know what the reason for our involvement in war is all about. If we knew, it could jepardize our security as a nation. Am I always looking for the boogy man? No, but I want to make sure he is not going to come sneaking around my neighborhood. I want the boogy man to know if he shows up, he is going to get his #@% kicked! If that means other country's live in fear of the U.S., so be it! I want my kids and grandkids to grow up in a free America.
Mikey, I do respect your right to feel as you do. Like Charmin said, we should be happy we had the right to vote, but remember, my friend, your right to vote, cost somone their life. You went to the polls because someone was willing to go to his or her death for you....and me....and, yes, even Obama. We should never take that lightly. The United States is not perfect, but there is no other nation under the sun I would rather live in. We have our problems. We have our struggles, but we are still the best on earth! That to me, my friend, is why it was worth what I and many others did in the Gulf and why young men and women, like your friend, lay down their lives every day on foreign soil. This country, my friend, regardless of politics, is worth fighting for, it is worth dying for!
With that, Mikey, I hope you accept my appology for coming off like a bully. God Bless the United States. I would gladly go again. I would gladly lay my life on the line again for you! This is the most wonderful nation on earth, regardless of our mistakes and / or shortcomings.

melamine is what they make plastic dishes out of yeah...and kitchen cabinets. It was mixed with baby formula and thousands of infants are very ill indeed with renal failure. Several have died and the Chinese govt deemed it not necessary to let the world know until after the olympics had been and gone. Just an example of the corruption in that country that goes all the way to the top.
Sadly a NZ dairy company had/has shares in the company that is at the heart of scandal
