We had a huge problem here with our pet foods. There was melamine in the wheat gluten mixed into dry pet foods. It was epidemic and it took a while for people to catch onto what was causing it. It was traced to China.

When the sugar plums quit dancing around in your head and you finally realize where this country is headed you wont be so euphoric. We will now belong to the new world order in an extreme solialistic fashion . We have been sold out.

to my mind the world needs to watch a super power who would kill animals and children without any sign of remorse and a govt that felt that they could delay the news breaking till after the world had oohhh'ed and ahhh'ed over their olympics. That to me is of more concern than the new president elect. Can he really be worse than Bush?
Watch China carefully.

It doesn't matter who won the election.
There's not a Man or Woman alive that can IMMEDIATELY pull us out of this BUSH mess.
* Our Great Nation is headed for a downward spiral!
* Our Dollar has sunk to an all time low!
* Our Financial System is a Joke!
We're getting our Butts Kicked on the Global Market!
Now we see the following 'FEAR' comments:
* Fear of being Invaded!
* Being Sold Out!
* Color of Ones Skin!
* I'm Educated! Hope I'm Wrong... Yak, Yak, Yak...!
It's easy point your finger and blame someone or something!
Until we come together and take care of ourselves...

well said swoop...oh and keith I think it may be you who has his head in the sand because the politically correct brigade have set the exact same things in motion in your country and in mine some time ago. Obama certainly hasnt been the turning point, the tide of political correctness turned years ago.

Quote: I fear we will become part of the United Arab Nation before long!
Wow, do you actually stand by this quote?
Fair play to you and your beliefs if you do. But personally? I find it quite a glib and missinformed quote. But hey, live and let live - that's the joy of being able to vote (even if I didn't cos I'm not even in the states!)

I know there are some here that are ecstatic at this development and some that are less than pleased. I would be with the later group. I've been through numerous elections in my life and this one has been by far the most pragmatic in its design. The democrats started planning for this election roughly six years ago and it was a very well devised plan and they accomplished their goal. I just seen on CNN that virtually all Blacks and two thirds of Hispanics voted for Obama, is this a surprise? After all we all know that its the whites that are racist and would vote accordingly. I congratulate them on their ability to take advantage of human nature. This brings new meaning to the term "Only in America", It's the only way I can fathom placing someone with so little experience and poor track record in such a powerful position. It looks like Obama, even during his acceptance speech, is already trying to lower expectations. I see that he is also suggesting that he will need a second term now. I guess perhaps maybe all the promises he made were a bit ambitious, but then again some of us knew that when he was making them. I'm watching the news right now, they are showing a crowd scene filled with all the young naive (deficient in worldly wisdom or informed judgment ) smiling and cheering faces waving their little flags. I can't help but wonder what expression might be on their proud little faces in a couple of years. Once again, congratulations to the democrats for a well designed plan. Perhaps I should be contented in the knowledge that he who laughs last laughs loudest, but then again, its not a laughing matter. Now back to business.

I agree with you totally Mike, and I hope I am wrong too because my kids are just getting out into the world. And of course, color has NOTHING to do with it, it's the agenda/mindset. Anyway, whats done is done, and now it's time to move forward and see what transpires. I am taking on the Missouri theme myself, you know (the SHOW me state).
Dittos, on the congratulations for the democratic party!..........Ron

Bill Clinton had no foreign policy experience (and neither, obviously, did Hillary) when he won the general election and all the naysayers were spouting the same things about him they are about Obama now. President Elect Obama is already in the process of choosing well knowledged, experienced people for his cabinet and advisors (Gen. Colin Powell for one).
I did not vote for Obama because he's African American (as a matter of fact he's half white). I'm educated. I'm an informed citizen. I'm white. I'm a woman. Up until 6 weeks ago I had a great job in a career I loved making more than $50,000/year with fully paid medical, dental, life and disability insurance plus I was fully vested in my company 100%. I lost my job due to my company's downsizing and trust me folks, the job market is beyond scary right now. I'm on unemployment for the first time IN MY LIFE and things are looking bleak at best as far as prospects go for me. Everyone is buckling down because of the mess created by Wall St. and Corporate America running amok and our government's refusal for oversight until it reached the point of having to do so in order to divert a world crisis. I voted for Obama because I (and more than half the population of America, btw) see a glimmer of hope in his plan to rebuild our country into what it used to be. We do indeed need change and I believe we made a step in the right direction yesterday.
I originally started this thread because it's my belief America did an amazing deed by electing the first non-white EVER to its highest office in the land. And that, folks, gives me hope that I, and many others in the same situation, will make it through this.

Why does everybody always think we are safer with Republican rule?
A REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION IN OFFICE FOR A PERIOD LONGER THAN THE TIME THEY GIVE A TEACHER TO TEACH 30 KIDS WHAT THEY DIDN'T LEARN LAST YEAR, WHAT THEY NEED TO MOVE A YEAR AHEAD FOR NEXT YEAR, ALONG WITH THE MANNERS AND RESPECT THEY FAILED TO LEARN AT HOME, AND A REPUBLICAN DOMINATED CONGRESS WERE ALL CAUGHT WITH THEIR HEADS IN THEIR A$$ ON 9/11.........APPARENTLY GOLF WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN NATIONAL SECURITY.....THEN THERE WAS KATRINA.....I WILL NEVER FORGET WHO WAS IN CHARGE, AND i WILL NEVER FEEL SAFE WITH REPUBLICANS AT THE WHEEL.......OF COURSE BIG BUSINESS WILL ALWAYS PREFER REPUBLICANS IN CHARGE.....

I held a bleeding buddy while he choked on his own blood, but if you want to know how he felt? I can tell you, he was proud to serve his country. When it comes to it, most times you do have to fight for what you want. I am glad we have always been ready and able to fight. Do I like it? No, but I do realize it is necessary. You just cant quit because someone gets hurt! You have to go win so their bloodshed was not in vain. I hated to lose my friend, but he died with honor. I am not a bully, but I wont be bullied. I would always fight. I dont think our country is full of, nor has it been run by bullies. We have done what, at the time, seemed right. It was for the preservation of our country. I am truely sorry your kid got beat up. There are always going to be bullies. I told mine, sometimes you just gotta kick a little _ _ _. We dont always know what the reason for our involvement in war is all about. If we knew, it could jepardize our security as a nation. Am I always looking for the boogy man? No, but I want to make sure he is not going to come sneaking around my neighborhood. I want the boogy man to know if he shows up, he is going to get his #@% kicked! If that means other country's live in fear of the U.S., so be it! I want my kids and grandkids to grow up in a free America. Mikey, I do respect your right to feel as you do. Like Charmin said, we should be happy we had the right to vote, but remember, my friend, your right to vote, cost somone their life. You went to the polls because someone was willing to go to his or her death for you....and me....and, yes, even Obama. We should never take that lightly. The United States is not perfect, but there is no other nation under the sun I would rather live in. We have our problems. We have our struggles, but we are still the best on earth! That to me, my friend, is why it was worth what I and many others did in the Gulf and why young men and women, like your friend, lay down their lives every day on foreign soil. This country, my friend, regardless of politics, is worth fighting for, it is worth dying for! With that, Mikey, I hope you accept my appology for coming off like a bully. God Bless the United States. I would gladly go again. I would gladly lay my life on the line again for you! This is the most wonderful nation on earth, regardless of our mistakes and / or shortcomings.
no apology neccessary. We all can use a little restraint before we go attacking our friends. It is I perhaps who should be apologizing to you. I do thank you from the bottom of my heart for fighting for my freedoms

please tell me you are kidding....talk about a racist attitude. equating our 44th AMERICAN president to the likes of the African nutcases...wow, this thread has taught me a lot about how we still have a looooooooooooong way to go for man to truly be equal. First people call the blacks lazy and drug addicted criminals, now they get out and vote in huge numbers and you condemn them for playing a popularity color contest. This thread disgusts me.Perhaps some of you "good ol boys" should go get your niggah sticks and your confederate flags and go beat yourself some boogy men.

No Eric, he didn't, but as you're from the UK you don't know first hand what race relations have been like (and still are in some places) in America. It is truly an amazing accomplishment.

Typical propaganda rhetoric from someone who has more than likely never even been to the US, an outsider looking in plain and simple. These kind of people need to grow up and act responsibly.

I've always had the utmost respect for Joe Scarborough as one of the fairest and most balanced voices in our media today and with this segment my admiration for him has grown tenfold. I ask everyone who reads this thread to click on the following link:

The White South African plight always made me laugh. sons and daughters of WHITE colonists to an all black continent that tried desperately to reshape and change through intimidation, bigotry, and abuse that threatens the mind with the obsceness of what they tried to do there...
and Keith, to even BEGIN TO TRY to equate this to what's going on in our country?
Dude, you seriously need to check yourself. That kind of belief went out when the civil rights was PASSED! Now take your racist beliefs and shove 'em!
