Murray have I told ya I love you today? I am sooooo looking forward to meeting you and Brenda in January...and since its dinner at my place I will have the gear all set up so as you can serenade whilst I cook ...mind you I might have to invite Mum down cos she has your CD and would love to meet you too...hmmm on 2nd thoughts its your call on that one...nothing worse than a drooling 70-something especially if she brings one (or more) of the poodles and they bruise your ankles

What's with the hostility? Newbies should be encouraged to ASK anything they want ....If people stopped asking QUESTIONS that have already been answered previously this and OTHER forums would DRY UP. Except for the ones who find it neccesarry to belittle others just to make themselves feel important.

That is one of the reasons this board exists in the first place. I really don't understand your attitude and there is certainly no need for it either. (Other than the PMS mentioned earlier )

I agree with you Jam what kind of reputation will this group get if SOME PEOPLE chastise others for asking a simple question and then backing it up with "Hey I'm new to karaoke."
No wonder this world has gone to hell in a hand basket. I hope I never see the day when people can't take a few minutes out their precious time to help others.
Hey what ever happened to the ban button?

Last week I opened a thread asking if anyone knew where I could find "Cocaine Blues" by Johnny Cash. I looked on the song database on this site and could not find it. The site helped me find songs that I couldn't anywhere else.
I got great responses from members without any attitude. It was great. I found out where I could get the song, and I am getting it. Glad nobody copped an atitude with me.

Tom Daniels there ARE more than enough smart friendly and educated people here on karaoke scene to help you out with just about any subject, so stick around and I'm sure we ALL can learn a few things from you as well.
I was REALLY surprised at reading Bruce's reply to you. Usually his posts are informative and friendly from what i've seen. Perhaps he was having a bad day- or week?
Just my .002 but give karaoke scene AND Brucefanforlife another chance to show you why this IS THE BEST PLACE for karaoke advice, opinions, equipment suggestions, and a place where people actually care for each other once they get to know you.
For the record, I, like Severin, didn't know of many sites to go to if not for this forum. I have since filled up on bookmarks because of these friendly people here and enjoy doing my own legg-work now and sharing. Aloha. J.R.

To ALL who have replied with links and offers to help:
THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!!
I was given a link to Jeff Daniels Backing Track site, and YES, all 3 tracks were there. The total price for an instant download was very reasonable considering these tracks just do not exist anywhere else (using every search method I could think of).
This Karaoke community is RIGHT in their belief of people helping people, sharing common interests and goals. Anyone who would rather find fault with someone else's wants or needs should try searching for a "whining" or "B - ing" forum and leave this community for the people who enjoy the art (or craft) of Karaoke.
Again, thank you to everyone who answered the call!
Blessings and Regards,
Tom Daniels

Murray,
You are absolutely WONDERFUL for sharing this info. Been there, got that. Much appreciated.
The message above this one is a grand thank you to everyone who replied with an intention to help me find these tracks. What was shown here is evident of the TRUE purpose of this forum -- people with common interests willing to share their knowledge of the craft and equally willing to help others.
Thanks again. Maybe (someday) I'll post my own rendition of one (or more) of these tunes in the SS!

Brucefan has been on at least one other site I know of. I've argued with him in the past, and he ridiculed me for sticking up for others, saying they should be able to defend themselves. What did I get for all my trouble? Attacks against my then girlfriend, who wasn't even a part of the discussion.
Anything is game for him. He's been banned at that other site (JOLTFORUM.com) back when it was online. For the same kind of behavior.
Tom, learn to ignore him, or take his words for granted.

Knightshow,
Your comment reminds me of a line from "Margaritaville" when done in Karaoke:
Looking for my lost shaker of salt.
{"Where's the salt -- where's the **** **** salt?"}

Matt is talking about that defunct FORUM where he constatntly got up on his soapbox to denounce karaoke pirates while he himself was running his own MIRC channel to share songs with the masses. I got banned for calling him and a few of his buddies hypocrites. I don't always follow the rest of the sheep and I sometimes see things differently than the rest of the crowd. I have no problem with file sharing software. I have a problem with people who use it and act as if they don't by criticizing people who do. Matt likes to claim that he is 100% legal with his song collection but one of his "old" friends tells me differently. Many people on many of these singing forums have an aversion to the truth. If someone has the nerve to type out some truth; they get black listed by the majority of members who "CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH" because they would rather fluff each other to the point of disillusionment. A perfect example of this is the Singers Showcase. One of the worst singers I have ever listened to routinely receives 20 to 30 comments on most of her songs while other much more talented singers receive very few comments on the songs they sing. It's all about the fluff. One of the best singers on the SS was receiving so many comments from the fluff brigade that she now only submits songs under the listen only category so she won't feel obligated to return all of the fluff. I guess she ran out of Bull Patties to dish out. It's painfully obvious that even if you are the worst singer in the world; if you hand out enough fluff, all of the people you fluffed will come back to fluff you in return. I'm not a big fan of lying to people. I guess that's why I don't always fit in here because so many people on this forum come here for the sole purpose of being lied to. They come here to be brainwashed by the fluffers. They start to believe all of the lies and they get offended if anyone dares to tell them the truth. Some people are just lousy singers. It doesn't make them lousy people. I don't draw well. If someone told me that I was a lousy artist; I would just say, "I KNOW". I wouldn't start screaming about how my mommy and my friends tell me that I'm a great artist and I wouldn't get my mommy and my friends to attack the person who had the courage to give me an honest opinion.

I caused trouble by calling the Monkees "THE FAKE FOUR" and Johnny Boy got his panties all in a bunch over a comment that was made as a joke. As far as his statement about not frequenting the Singers Showcase ANY LONGER; that is just an outright lie. he's there under numerous aliases on a regular basis.
After checking around, I seem to have mixed up the reverb twins. My Bad. not sure if they're one in the same so I'll just wait and see.

I was just responding to Matt's post about me.
Notice how I can respond to your question without disparaging you. My girlfriend didn't leave me and I'm quite calm. I just like to defend myself when people are two faced hypocrites. Everyone seems to tell everyone else to ignore me but they all want to get in the last word with some sort of verbal dig at me and then they expect me to ignore it. I don't ignore anything. Phil asked me to drop the initial subject about asking other people to look up songs for someone else so I did. I guess some people thought that that would mean that I wouldn't defend myself from their verbal insults. Some folks respect me for my honesty and some people hate me for it. I can live with that. It's better than being a hypocrite in my opinion. I don't need people to like me if I have to lie to them about their lousy singing to get them to like me. Apparently, there is no such thing a s a lousy singer. Not around here anyway. Everyone here deserves to win a GRAMMY.

But exactly who are the lousy listeners? The ones who tell the truth or the ones that NEVER tell the truth?
