Hello all.

I'm a Karaoke fan and radio DJ from Northern New Jersey. My vocal style is much similar to Neil Diamond (most of the songs I cover in Karaoke appearances are by Neil) but I also like to harmonize to America or Crosby, Stills & Nash. Other solo artists I cover include James Taylor, Harry Chapin, Gordon Lightfoot and Cat Stevens (Father & Son).

There are a few Neil Diamond Tunes that I cannot locate Karaoke tracks for. I noticed that another member, ClayPotts, has uploaded his own cover version of I"VE BEEN THIS WAY BEFORE to this site. There's proof to me that the song is available as a Karaoke track. Can anyone here provide the disc details? I've GOT to do this song!!

Thanks!
Tom Daniels

Hey Tom, I live in Northern NJ myself... what town do you live in, maybe I've seen you around or heard you On the radio perhaps. Welcome! :)

Andygurl,

The radio gigs were on some low-power stations in Rockland County, NY (just over the Bergen County line but covering the upper part of Bergen as well) from November 1975 thru April 2000. I got replaced by a computer!!

Currently I live in Essex County, just north of Newark. I sing Karaoke at a place in Clifton called THE RED CAT. It's a small restaurant/martini bar with a very dedicated crowd of very talented singers, and I am honored to be among them whenever I can. One of the "regulars" in our crowd is an Elvis impersonator!

As you can tell by my many posts, my main focus is on the style of Neil Diamond. But I have ventured onto doing songs by other artists and groups, including (but not limited to):

James Taylor (Fire & Rain, You've Got A Friend, Don't Let Me Be Lonely)
Cat Stevens (Father & Son)
Barry McGuire (Eve Of Destruction)
Paul Stookey (Wedding Song --I did this at Red Cat for some ladies who were having their bachelorette party there -- Oh Boy! did they LOVE that!
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (Suite: Judy Blue Eyes)
Creedence Clearwater Revival (Lodi, Who'll Stop The Rain)
Alan Jackson (Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning)
America (I Need You, Sandman)

Although lately I've been creating my own Karaoke discs, every now and then I will check the KJ's books for a song I've NEVER done before, and use it as a self-imposed challenge.

Who knows -- if you venture into this part of NJ you might just find me behind a microphone!

Tom

Hi Tom, Oh Essex County you say, I was actually born & raised in Newark & attended schools in Bloomfield & I got my 1st apartment in Clifton On VanHouten Ave. What a small world. I never heard of The Red Cat although I haven't been through Clifton in many years. Am I ever gonna get to hear you On the Showcase or am I gonna hafta make the trip to Clifton? Sorry to hear you were replaced by a computer but for every door that closes, a new 1 opens... that's my philosophy. Nice to meetcha! :)
