DANNYG you said you tried this one time are you saying you have used karaokesongfinder or did you use another type of program
the reason i ask i dont recall selling you karaokesongfinder
i looked at my records and i have no sale to you nor do i have a demo because
demo's can be cracked that is why we do not offer a demo
so if you did use karaokesongfinder i would love to know where you got it

if anyone has any ???? you can contact me at 1-240-342-2172

the only reason i posted here is because after reading dannyg post it sounded like he was or has used karaokesongfinder i just wanted to make it clear what program he was talking about thank
you all for your time Mike D

I agree with the concept of a kiosk. People take their mem sticks out of their digital cameras and with a kiosk get them printed put on the spot. They are getting used to kiosks. However I would like to take it to the next level They can go on the web site search at their convenience at home and make out request lists which are emailed. They can even request songs not on the list and if they are available as downloads I will have them when they come to the show.

A few years ago hardly anybody was on the net now most are esp if they have school age children.

No I didn't buy your product. I used fast tracks song viewer.

Kiosk will be more popular in the near future. Just look at laptop; 5 years ago most of the KJ here were JVC users.

jreynolds; thank you very much.

That would be hard to change a request if there were a line at the kiosk....no?

I have lots of 20-somethings at my show and i see how they HOG the "leftover books" i put out when they come storming in, so i would think they would BUM RUSH the computer and all heck might break loose- literally

Changing a request is never a problem since I can make the change at my computer station as well. And yes, I still get people that wait until I hand the microphone only to want to change their song.

I also have a gig loaded with lots of 20-somethings escorting a bunch of I'm-the-cutest-thing-on-the-planet chickies.... but they don't really gather 'round the kiosk. Perhaps they're trained, I dunno, they methodically go up one after another. Sure, every once in a while you'll get a committee of them all trying to collectively pick out a group song, but not often enough to cause any type of traffic jams.

I will say this though, for the first few weeks that you use a kiosk, you will have groups of "lookie-lookies" marveling at it and testing it out... the novelty will wear off soon enough and it becomes another tool.

What if this also had the lyrics stored, so you could search for a song title by lyrics, kind of like google, or what if it were connected to the internet so you could google songs. That might be kind of neat.

Technologically, that is possible if there is a wifi connection close.... but I'd have to monitor the 20-somethings who take any opportunity they could to surf porn... So I'd have to put that one on the back burner.... waaayyy back.

I actually have the "mini-cdr's" (about 3.5 in. cd's) that contains a PDF file of the entire songbook, with 2 listings; one by title and one by artist with an html page set up as autorun that I hand out. This allows them to peruse the book wherever they want and the cdr's only cost about 10 cents each.

When I start the program at the beginning of the new year.I will have someone at the computer at all times to keep control ...as far as changing songs..as stated in my rules if you change a song after you have already turned you slip in ..you may do so but you song will be placed at the bottom of the rotation..so you lose your place where you were at...this really hurts when they find out they were the next singer up ..and have to wait..oh well...aint life rough...LOL

Well THERE GOES karaoke professionalism right out the window!

Are you for real GeminiM, or are you looking for attention? Powertrip? Inferiority complex?
Just asking.....not assuming.... much.

You seem to be doing nearly everything backwards in this profession. Customers COME FIRST, NOT LAST. Do you happen to be doing kiddie-karaoke at Chucky Cheese?

There are hundreds of job postings on craiglist btw. Good Luck with the karaoke one!

With the attitude of "customers are there to be belittled" by an hourly-paid karaoke host, you sure don't seem to know where your paycheck comes from dude..."oh well".

May as well not even ask, he has been spouting this junk for a couple years. One of the biggest hippoctritical karaoke nazis out there. He has BANNED several Karaoke Scene members from his shows....even though he's never met any of them in person. I believe knightshow was talking about he is not allowed to even step foot in the bar he works, even though he's never been there before.

As long as I haven't hit play on your song, feel free to ask to change your song. No penalty for that at my shows.

TTowntenor, i don't usually react without thinking, but his post being the first one i read today kinda threw me. Thanks for the background on his "professional disposition" lol.

rereading my post i was kinda rude and sarcastic..should've been kinder. There's others here that can "play ball" with him better than i.

I suppose i'm banned from his show now too. :(
BUT HEY!...i just remembered it doesn't matter...my license was suspended in kansas 10 years ago for an unpaid speeding ticket.... "oh well ain't life rough?" lol

Just good customer service in my opinion & with the computer it's not a big deal at all, change the song, ok, type in the name & hit play!

Wow, why tick off a customer? I can stop a song, type in search, hit play, and have them singing again in 10 seconds or less. Why on earth would you not let someone change their song? Geesh...>Part of changing songs, I find, is that people will sense a certain atmosphere in the room and maybe change their song to roll with it or try to change the atmosphere - either way, they don't do it to try and trick me or tick me off. They know darn well I'll change it for them and thus far nobody has abused it. Only exception, I'd say, is if they have brought in their own CD, I have uploaded it to play for them, then they want to change it to another one of their discs - "Sure, but you'll have to wait until after the next singer so I have a chance to upload it."

There was a host in this area years ago who had those iron-clad rules, like "no changing your song" - and he isn't around anymore.

Our regs stop if its the wrong song or version. We converse on the mics and change on the fly in about 5 seconds or less. Its not really that big of a deal. ???? No matter who's mistake it was why ruin their spot in the rotation..

changing a song once it starts? My belief has always been, "no, you had ample time to tell me before I hit play".

Although I HAVE grunted, groaned, and taken five to twenty seconds to find their next song selection and play it instead.

Since I have filler music for between singers, no , it's not a show stopper.

But right then and there I'll tell the customer "Don't EVER do that again."

Gem's philosopy on this is rather abrupt, but he IS entitled to his beliefs.

Just as much as people might disagree with how I run a show. Or Karen, or Lonnie. Or Ollie...

And yeah, I'm banned! For telling Gem how I disapprove of his hosting style. And for personal conversations online.

So neither of us is going to see GM "ran a show" Matt? Bummer!

I use filler music as well (don't like saying "bumper-music"-sounds too much like bumper cars or a carny thing (they scare me!)...so the show never goes dead.

And if they change a song after a few seconds, no sweat, just yell REMIX and go on with the show.

I can see it get annoying if you have to look up the song, but that's what master books are for...keeping the customers happy is more important i believe!

I don't think anyone minds the occasional change. But for some hosts, it is a slippery slope. I went to a show last night where the start time was 9:00pm (he was there). The first singer went on at 9:20 (to make room for chatting) and the third song kicked off at 9:55. Filler music playing all the while, trying to decide on a song for 5-10 minutes, chatting merrily away. That is the worst I have ever seen, but a lot of hosts get into this "take their time" mode.

Their shows are not busy. Are they thinking, "well, there aren't many singers so I will space it out"? Have they ever thought that perhaps they don't have many singers because they don't let people sing?

That makes sense Mckyj, i too, have seen the filler music overdone preshow before, but they were just waiting to get enough singers to sign up.

A few bars i have worked in had, in the past, asked me to wait to start the show until i had at least 3 singers...owners and managers request WHOM i work for and GET PAID by.

Didn't agree with the cocept.... but IT IS/WAS BETTER than hearing a host sing like 8 songs in a row!

My current shows allow me to do whatever i want whenever and however..it is trust earned.
