I had two customers who came in last night, who wanted to sing Paradise by the Dashboard light, with the commentary. I have the Supercore version (and the SGB) with the commentary, but according to them this is the wrong one. The Supercore changes from white to blue for the boys part, and the male couldn't tell when to come in because the colour change wasn't significant enough. They both also looked confused with the second verse... (baby don't you hear my heart...).
They are certain it's the sunfly version they want, and I told them I will try and track the correct one...
Does anyone know of a really good version of this song? with the baseball commenty and clear lyric changes? If it happens to have the parts on screen when both the male and female should sing together bonus.
Sorry to post another "can you help me find topic?" but short of buying all the versions and choosing the best, I rather pick you expert brains.

Do they want to do the commentary or have it as a background vocal?
If they want to do it then All Hits is the best version.
If they want it as background DK or Sound Choice are your best choices.
The DK is the only one with all the lyrics. The Sunfly version doesn't have the commentary at all.

I can send you my DK version. It will be legal, I won't ever use it.

I'm pretty certain that the All hits version is the same as the supercore, I suspect it's the DK version.

If it's on MP3 it's no good to me as i'm CDG only.... if it's CDG then the postage costs would be extreme and that wouldn't be fair on you, but thank you Mckyj57 that is the most wonderful offer.
I'm not a fan of DK (so far i've managed to avoid buying any). Can someone confirm if the DK version if is worth buying. Is there that much difference? are my customers right to be fussy? or am I best to say tough luck my version is close enough deal? I'm not keen to spend £5 on a song, I have four versions of already if the difference is minor.

I know of no DK material that is on Supercore. And I own the lot -- every DK disk and every Supercore set from 2005-2008. (Yes, I know -- I gave away the dup disks to family and kept the new material.) Marble @ Sat Nov 15, 2008 11:32 am wrote: mckyj57 @ Sat Nov 15, 2008 3:46 pm wrote: I can send you my DK version. I was really kidding, sorry. I was referring to the many threads where people discuss most-hated karaoke songs. I literally don't carry it in my catalog and it is not on my hard disk.
You could download it then burn it to a CDG, as the DK version is on karaoke-singles.com.
Has anyone seen the Zoom version, which is on Tricerasoft?

I have the Zoom version and love it, because they shortened the song a lot. In this case, it would be the absolute wrong version for you though.

Sorry bad grammar on my part... I'm pretty certain that the All hits version is the same as the supercore. I suspect the version the customers are refering to is the DK.
And a second sorry to Mckyj for my missing a really good joke. My brain must be shutting down because I am contemplating buying another version of this.

This means that the DK & SoundChoice version both have a recorded commentary in it already.
The only thing that the DK MIGHT have that I haven't seen correct on any version to date is the actual ending when he is singing
Well It Was Long Ago & Far Away, And It Was So MUch Better Than Yesterday.
The girl is is supposed to be singing the line at the same time - which I haven't seen on either the All Hits or SOund Choice, don't know about the others.
It Never Felt So Good, It never felt so right, And we were glowing like A metal on the edge of a knife

it's not DK then.
I might just put this one down to drunk customers using excuses for not doing the song that well then.
Ps. Lonman there is a one sunfly version with all the parts, but they have 9 discs with the song on and I don't know which one to find it on.
I'm curious what parts did zoom take out?

Just looked at it -- the DK doesn't have them singing the same line at the end any time. The male does the first line you mention (or something like it) and the female does the second.
And when I listen to the song itself, the DK matches up exactly with what I hear.
Well it was long ago it was far away, and it was so much better than it is today.
It never felt so good, it never felt so right, and we were glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
The "Well" is dropped after the first one. No "yesterday". And they never sing each other's line. There is one extra "it was long ago" in the female part, but that is after the DK has done its ... to indicate fade.

Zoom, as I understand like Sunfly, took out the commentary part all together.

Ok I wasn't getting THAT particular as far as getting the words exactly right off the top of my head I was just getting at that the versions I have do not have the guy & gal singing simultaneously at the end. He actually does like one verse by himself & then she comes in about 1/3 into the second & the continue at the same time to the end.

DK has all the lyrics including the ending with the female. The only other version with the female ending does not have the commentary.

The supercore is actually the All Hits I believe as I have the supercore version as well as the Sound Choice. I just did not import the Supercore set.

That matches DK, which seems almost exact.

Except the play by play in the middle is pre-recorded, correct?

I have at least 6 versions of this freakin' yowlfest, but the most popular by far, AND the lyrically accurate is - believe it or not- the ALL HITS version. Strange but true....

does that mean that one of the most joked about songs of all time isn't reproduced in its full length by any manufacturer that is associated as one of the better ones? are we really left with SGB and Supercore?
By the way I am so sorry for creating a debate on this song.... I shall not sleep tonight owing to the guilt.
Has anyone seen the SBI, EK or Mr Entertainer Version?
