Ok guys, so I am still weeks away from my first gig, does anyone have the bars, parties, or whatever business it might be that you play at, sign a waiver for injuries of any kind?

I look at it this way. It's my business so I alone am responsable for any injury i Incure. Besides I got the best healthcare coverage one can have.

Ripman, you are technically a Self Employed Contractor and are responsible not only for your own safety but the safety of others when it comes to your equipment.
Unless you have a venue you perform at take-out taxes every paycheck- before you get your paycheck, then i believe you are considered an employee of that venue according to the IRS.
If you get a 1099 form at the end of the year from the venue(s) then you are considered a contractor, and are not eligible for any health coverage, workmens comp, unemployment, etc.... and are responsible for your own insurance(s).
If you are operating as your own business and have a license or tax ID/ fein ID then of course you are your own entity and need insurance to protect yourself and others.
But OTHERS here will certainly ADD MORE Info and correct me if i happen to have stated something wrong. Welcome btw!
