I offer to apologize for any confusion but I did have trouble navigating while posting on this site. I've been in industry for over 20 years which includes R&D work and have resolved literally thousands of documented audio issues within the last decade or so, perhaps hundreds of thousands. I do own some pro sound gear that I can’t give away. Some of it I’ve tried to and some of it I won’t. However of those I have practically given away were out of Quality-Sound-Courtesy.
I've spent a lot of money (more than I would like to admit because it’s shocking) in support of Karaoke Scene events and local karaoke, while not asking for any return on my investment. It IS nice to kick back after a rough day and phlex the vox at these venues. However, it IS a let down when the KJ ego owns the show and overlooks the importance of sound quality. Hey you karaoke guys, have some Quality-Sound-Courtesy, to say the least! You know what I'm talking about!
As like any other person in this forum, I do wish to bear my testament as EQUALLY in all FAIRNESS. In my opinion, this is not the case here in this forum. I am however, compelled to improve sound for karaoke because I appreciate it. A tech forum will not prevent me from doing so. Good sound is what makes me smile and makes me want to sing! And giving a few tips from an old industry pro (who happens to be an average everyday Joe karaoke enthusiast) along the way couldn't hurt.
I will be content however, when every karaoke singer sings like they are on top of the world – and it sounds like it!
If you want to deny me my voice on this forum, then do so. I'm sure many of the people at Karaoke Scene, some of whom I am personally acquainted with, will understand the situation. It doesn’t matter to me. By the way, don't forget to delete my personal info from your database. I don't want to be getting spammed on account of it.
Until then, I guess I will get more use from my earplugs.
There's a lot of painful noise out there.
Good cheer, good song and finally,
Good luck with your Quality-Sound-Courtesy arsenal!

I hope you aren't adding 25 to this total for your activity on this site. All you did was recommend, like a kneejerk, a QSC solution to every problem. Totally ignoring budget, context, or most anything else previously said in the thread.
In some cases you resurrected threads which were 3 months old and had long since seen resolution.

No one is denying you a voice on the forum, however, each case is different & like Mickey stated, your solution to everything was get QSC. While I would agree QSC makes some damn nice equipment & I have recommended it as well, but again, each case is different. Depending on needs, budget (which I do try to push a higher budget in most cases), size of rooms, etc...Budget is the biggest issue with most so you have to work & recommend the best stuff within that range & a couple QSC $1200 per speaker isn't an answer for someone who only has $1000 to get started. Again I totally agree that this isn't enough for a really decent system, but you can achieve decent sound with this budget.
Just be more concious of that when answering questions.

Your statement is false regarding solutions. Please be more objective in your allegations. I have offered advice to the contrary. I'd hate to see what happened at a local mom and pop sound company where they couldn't get support for a product a lot of people are recommending here. Now that's expensive! YES, there are budget items from a so-called "expensive" brand. And it doesn't hurt the beginner to check out a company's website that cares to educate them on valuable sound information. BTW how do you know your gear performs as advertised? I'll admit I own some "cheapo" gear but it's no fun during a gig when someone's yelling in your ear because it fails. That's painful. Rather than trash a brand I'll offer the best advice I can. Why mine is less valid you tell me. I don't think so. They'll probably trash their own gear on their own during these hard times. It's all about the people.

JD @ Thu Nov 20, 2008 6:02 pm wrote: Your statement is false regarding solutions. Ok maybe 90% of your solution was to check out QSC or specific QSC products. It quite frankly got kind of like a broken record especially when you were opening up threads that were a couple months old that had been resolved already. Well that's some of the sacrifices someone on a budget might be willing to take. People push Behringer products all day & i'd say half the people are willing to use them for whatever reason, but that is their choice. Probably most likely because of budget restrictions over anything else. If it fails, well then it fails. Most of the brands recommended here - with the exception of a couple - have decent customer service when it comes to repairing.
Again, one can achieve a decent sound with not having the budget for the best - but even the 'expensive' brands budget stuff is sometimes STIll out of some peoples budgets. So when making recommendations, take the budget into consideration!

I must reiterate, that for the beginner, looking at a company's website can educate them immensely. There's nothing wrong with pointing someone in the right direction. We may be looking at someone who's a future CLAIR sound giant. Knowledge is power and knowledge of a total systems solution is a powerful thing for a beginner to know. If you look at all the possibilities it may create new breakthroughs for karaoke. I believe in it because I believe in the people that can make it happen. Never say never.

ripman8 @ Thu Nov 20, 2008 6:24 pm wrote: Lonman, did you steer me wrong on the Behringers man? No I made recommendations based on your particular budget of $1000 & made the exact statement. Quote: It's about the best you are going to find for that budget. The speakers are a little bigger so can produce a little more bass, however they have the same amps as the the B212 - so they still may not 'rock the house' at higher volumes. Lower powered amps tend to get very ear fatiguing at higher volumes. But like stated, these could be used in the future for other apps such as stage monitors or maybe even fill for other rooms.
Being I explained about the low power of the amps and how the could cause ear fatigue & what not.

Of course. So what should I do for speaker stands? Tons of them online, what would you recommend?

Most stands will work.

These also come with a carrying case & flange adapters for different size flanges.

I'm checking them out, thanks. I'll buy you a beer sometime. No one as responded to my question about connecting my Shure L4 receiver to the mixer. It has a xlr male connector in the back, I haven't received the mixer yet. Any ideas what kind of connector I will need and would 3 foot be enough? I assume most connectors can be found at radio shack?

I use a standard XLR-XLR mic cable to connect my Shure ULXP4 receiver to the mixer... should be the same for the L4.

I have no idea about RS. My cables are "Planet Waves" and have a lifetime warranty... if they fail, they get replaced. I consider it's worth paying a little extra for that.

The problem JD is that in virtually every post you mention QSC in one form or another and to most of us it looks like spam.
