Alex, are you going to have the DriveRack and the BBE duke it out? Or am I misinterpreting what you are intending the MaxCom to be used for?

I just wanna give it that typical BBE boost. Besides, it's a compressor for the Main Out, with a Sidechain Input. Still thinking about playing with that...

You know the DriveRack does all that for you, right?

Ok, I got a question regarding the Lexicon MX300. What cables do I need to hook that up to my mixer and how exactly do I connect it to the Mackie ONYX 1620?

Standard 1/4" TS plugs. I would run the Aux send (3&4) of the mixer to the input of the effects & run the output back to actual channels instead of the aux return, unless you are channel limited.

Yes, on my mixer I do just that. I like adjusting the amount of effects with the fader instead of the aux return twist knob.

Thank you guys I will go and get the cables now...
BTW, I just got my speakers and hooked them up for the first time to actually hear the sound. Wow... Sounds better, than what I had before and the Mic Pre Amps on the ONYX are really worth every penny. WAY better than the Pre Amps of the Peavey Mixer I had before.

And the fact that both those boards are approx the same price. It's a fact, mixers aren't just mixers and any mixer will do. Some boards DO make a difference in sound quality!
That is going to be a kickin system!

Wow, that's terrible to hear.
I was leasing a rehearsal studio and wanted to cover my PA gear, insurance wise. Long story short, after looking into everything, I found out that absolutely NO regular insurance company will cover PA gear. Not your homeowners insurance, car insurance, renter's insurance, whatever. Simply put, I found out that your regular, everyday, insurance companies don't have policies in place to cover your gear.
So I went with a company that I found on-line that covers musician's gear no matter where your gear is located. Basically your gear is covered whether it's at your studio, home, at a gig, or in transit. The company I went with is called Clarion Associates, Inc ( www.clarionins.com). For $250/year they cover up to $20,000 in gear.
Of course, now, I'm no longer leasing the studio. All my gear stays in a trailer in my driveway. I have a tongue lock and a locking bolt (that replaces the normal pin). For security purposes, I also have a Mossberg 12 gauge pump action shotgun, just in case, with plenty of double and triple-ought buckshot shells!
The other suggestions for security in this thread are very good, too.

I just bought a cargo van, used. It is in pretty good shape, and importantly it has a metal cage which is extremely difficult to break into.

As both the Lexicon MX300 and the Lexicon Onyx 1620 have the provision for balanced TRS aux send and returns I would suggest taking advantage of a good thing and use TRS patch cables. I know it helped when I switched from TS to TRS on my Lexicon MPX1.

Not sure if you read my post about the insurance (above) from Clarion Insurance. Personally, I think the $250 for a year's coverage anywhere the gear is at, seems like a good deal. Especially when you consider how much you've spent in such a short amount of time.
Good luck tonight!

I do! But I bet it will go fine. After all:

You are a pro who works hard, so it should be good.

i missed a few days here. im sure all goes well. Im looking at that board, its a really nice board..really nice. Im also looking at the yamaha that has the compression and USB in (now im going from my lappy headphone jack) I think the yamaha would improve the music sound, and slightly hinder my vocal sounds, but the adjustable compression might help some.Ill probably end up with the onyx down the road. I look forward to having a nice rack mount mixer vs my current powered mixer. GC said I should get the yamaha and try it out. they will give full refund for 15 days. probably upgrade even longer.
