A few months back I bought one of thos Ikey recorders. The last few weeks I've been hooking it up at my shows and randomly recording singers ( just a part of the song) . Instead of filler music I sometimes download the recently recorded song snipit and play it. THE LOOK ON THE FACES OF THE SINGERS when they HEAR themselves while sittingdown is priceless ...... Just thought I would share
It's something a little differant

Jam that's a cool idea. That's a nice added benefit for your singers to be able to actually hear themselves recorded. I don't play filler music, but if I did I'd consider doing it.

The only downfall I've ever seen from recording singers is some people don't know what they sound like and when they hear themselves never want to sing again. I've only known of 2 people in all my years that has happened too, so it is probably not that huge of a concern.

I just use Audacity with my dj computer. Record & playback instantly. Sometimes it backfires though when someone hears themself, I actually had one gal quit singing - no she wasn't bad at all, but she thought it was horrid.

LOL ..I guess that could happen --I've only done it with the "FUN" singers so far
the ones that don't take the singing tooooooo seriously. It was more in FUN than to have them really hear themselves... But I could see how that will happen

I'll have to be careful in the future .... What I have done with some of the SERIOUS singers is record the whole song and if it sounded good I would send the the mp3 via email when I got home ..If it didn't I would just delete it :D
