Hi guys n Gals
New to your forum and I like what I see. You guys seem to treat people with respect. not every forum is like that.
I am not in a gig right now so I'm cleanning up my system. I run from a PC and my new songs are in folders with the date I converted them and CDG maker. Since I'm cleaning up the program I use alows me to search for songs and change the name and I realized I can do more then that. The songs that have vocals I added <W-Vocals> to the Artist name and again I realized I can do more. Now I want to add <Duet> but I don't have a good list of songs that are Duets. Oh you might ask why I would want to do that, well, the song book generator I use can pull out key words and only print thos songs. Now I can print a duet book, a W/vocals group and so on.
So, two questions, Can you help me with some duet song names. and besides By Artist, by Song Title, Duets, and W/Vocals, have you ever been asked for any other types of sorting.
My plan is to have eight books three title three artist 1 duet 1 w/vocals.
Ideas? thoughts? opinions? Blast away

Well.... I wonder why you would have a book w/vocals.
I have NEVER used those songs at a show, nor have I ever seen them used at another show.
In fact, when I rip my discs, I don't bother ripping those because it takes up space that could otherwise be put to good use.
I'm just wondering, no disrespect meant.

Actually I get couples asking about duets quite often. I don't have them in the book specifically I usually just rattle them off the top of my head. So what are you asking for... the most common ones? Here's the most sung ones in my room:
1. Picture - Kid Rock - Sheryl Crow (what else can I say)
2. Summer Nights - John Travolta - Olivia Newton-John (of course)
3. My Humps - Black Eyed Peas (Fergie - Will I Am)
4. Whiskey Lullaby - Brad Paisley - Alison Krause
5. Time Of My Life - Bill Medley - Jennifer Warnes
6. From This Moment - Shania Twain - Bryan White
Those are the ones that pop up most.
Edit: Oops and I forgot "Love Shack" for crying out loud.

No disrepect taken I actually have been able to get people to sing that have never sang before because I tell them I can play the words with them while they sing. The few I that have started that way now don't use them either.
Also, I mix dance music in with Karaoke and have been asked if I had a song and the only version i had was a Karaoke w-vocals and in a pinch it works. (w/certain brands of coarse) The I go out and buy the original. <grin>

How about "It's Your Love"? It has to be one of the most common in my admittedly country area.

I am new here, but thought I might send a few:
Endless Love
Unforgettable
Paradise by the dashboard life (I hate this song though!! )
In another's Eyes
With You I'm Born Again
All Cried Out
I'll Be There
Love Is
Your'e the One That I Want
Broken
Tell Him
Just off the top of my head.

I guess I'm looking for a comprehensive list. I have a large number already, enough to make a book once at least. have any of you found a site on the web that has that kind of information?

Take a look at the canned databases (bookmakers like musicbookdeluxe & the likes), I believe many of them have duet listings.

Hi there. I happen to have a section in my books that is listed as "Specialty Songs." Within that, I have grouped them as :
Children's Songs
Christmas/Holiday Songs
Duets
Show/Movie Tunes
TV Tunes
Irish Songs
Spanish Songs
I did all of this manually in a Microsoft Excel Worksheet. I have 3 different files saved to my Hard Drive... Songs arranged by Titles, Songs arranged by Artists, Songs arranged by Specialty Groups (this being the smallest list of the 3). Whenever I buy new discs, I manually add all of my new songs into both my Artists and Titles files. Then I look at the new songs that have multiple artists listed together, and if it looks like it's a Duet or group song, I will add it to my Duets list (within my Specialty Groups file. I have 13 pages of titles which I considered to be Duets (35 songs per page).
Drop me an e-mail and I'll send you a copy of my list. I'm going to spell it out (because I'm not sure if the filters here will allow me to write out my e-mail address):

I Finally Found Someone by B. Streisand & Bryan Adams is one we are asked to do a lot. Love Will Always Win by Garth B. & T. Yearwood. There is also that one by Ozzie & Lita Ford - oh lordy, I wish my memory was better. You might consider going to one of the big vendor sites and putting in "duet" for the search criteria and see what happens. I've never done that but it'd be worth a try - karaoke dot com and Doowop come to mind.

What a great idea!
I've been thinking of making a duet's lista as well.
That would also include girl/girl and guy/guy duets.
But alas!
I've been lazy lately
That and trying to get my darn puters to link up so I can run a kiosk is taking up much of my off-time.

I just ran though my database and did a scan to all songs listed with a & in the title to see just was and what was not a duet. After getting the scanned list I then played each one to see if it was truly a duet or just two artists singing at the same time. Although Sound Choice and Chartbuster usually tells you what is by their opening screen I have found that others do not. It was a long drawn out process but my database now lists duets, trios, foursomes (no not that kind) and so on like this.
If it is a male male duet: Title (Duet MM) - Artist & Artist
If it is a male female duet: Title (Duet MF) - Artist & Artist
and so on.
When I print my books it will come out like that also letting people know what is a duet.
I can also tell the program to look for duet in the name and make a separate listing.
L.W.
