I'm the only one not at a party? Can anyone tell me how to set up a floor stand? I can't figure out when adjusting the height how to secure the height with the ring.

I never seem to have time to party. Of course there are some that think what I do is just one long party. Anyway, I don't know what brand or type of mic stand you have but any stands I have you simply just tighten the collar (clockwise) after you have the height you want. I wonder why we spell "heigth" that way.

I have a Stagg MIS-1120BK. Tried that but it didn't work either.

I'm not familiar with the brand but most stands operate in the same manor. Does the collar tighten properly, not stripped? You might want to unscrew the collar (clutch) then and see if the ferrule (packing) is out of position, cracked or possibly even missing.

Most mic stands have a locking ring about half way down. Clockwise to tighten, counter to loosen. Don't worry about locking it into a specific position, most will adjust it for their height.

Or even better the stands with the trigger release. Saves a lot of twisting.
