We use JBL eon15's and was curious if this devicedbx DriveRack PX Powered Speaker Optimizer helps with the overall sound and feedback problems with these speakers...We do have a dual band 15 EQ on the system but was wondering if this product was worth the investment...thanks for the advice...!

It's definitely worth every penny, your sound - when properly set-up, will be night & day!

ABSOLUTELY

I've been using a Driverack for many years, at first you may find it a little intimidating but after you learn your way around it you will wonder how you managed without it. I am actually using the PA version because that's what I had already. I used to have a traditional setup, I'm now using powered speakers. The PX is a PA minus the crossover section and the alignment delay which you wouldn't need with powered speakers. The less equipment you have in your signal path the better off you are as far as ambient noise. Also, with all the external devices the Driverack replaces it is actually a very good bargain and delivers top notch audio. You will find the Auto EQ and the Feedback Filters particularly nice features. I know a few others here have started using one in the last year or two and have heard nothing but praises from them also. To me the Driverack (either PX or PA) is a win win win win situation, better sound, less expense in the long run, less outboard gear to haul around and after the initial learning curve, easy to use. Don't forget to get the calibration mic while your at it.

Count me also as a satisfied DriveRack user. I just bought my third, because I got sick of people knocking the eq out of whack. Set the DriveRack up, and you don't have to touch it -- in fact can't unless you really try. This stops people from nudging eq sliders around until everything is screwed up...

I've had one on my "wishlist" for a short time now, but after these four endorsements from Lonman, Sevarin, LondonLive & Mckyj57 (all four whose opinions I very much respect---99% of the time 8) ) I think I will be getting myself a Christmas present! :D

One question to follow:
Everything I have been able to read about the DBX Drivrack PX refers to powered stereo speakers...am I to assume they are referring to a system that is running in stereo?
What about a system that is running in mono...How does the driverack PX fit in for that setup?

It fits in just fine, when you are using the setup Wizard on the PX you will come to a screen that will allow you to set it for mono input. On the ouput side you can either just run off the the Left output or use a Y cable if you like, I've done it either way.

:D Thank You! :D That is what I wanted to know...I am now ready to pull the trigger...GC has 15% off today only which knocks $60 off the price.

I'm sure you won't regret it. If you want to use it to its full potential don't forget to get the calibration mic. You are indeed a brave man to venture out on "Black Friday".

I looked online at GC and I saw that DBX is excluded from their 15% off sale.
Heading out the door to my local store...about 10 minutes away...will see what they will do...they have in the past swung deals on their own to keep you from walking out the door empty handed...wish me luck! :D

Oh yes the PX at GC comes with the calibration mic.

Got it! :D
As I expected, even though DBX products were excluded from thier 15% off sale, they were not about to let me walk out of thier store without the driverack under my arm! :D So off came the 15%!

Will be a few days or longer (busy, busy, busy) before I can get it installed into my rack and get back to you on how much I am sure i am going to like this...but I will let you know.

So when are we going to get an update on the great Driverack adventure?

It is installed and have used on my system at home, however the room is too small to get a correct setting useing the RTA mic. (it wants a 25 foot or greater run out from center of the mains.) So far what features I am able to use in such a small room I am liking.
This system is not the one used weekly at the bar I do. (My weekly gig is on a system I sold to the bar so basically I am only a "host" there. (of course I don't have to haul equipment there either-(other than a laptop and ext HD) 8) )

I have some holiday parties coming up...first one on the 18th...will get a full test then.

Next on my wish list is a Mackie SWA1501 Woofer (should be sometime after the holidays...hoping)

Thanks for asking.

Alright, There definetly is a learning curve but I think I have most of it figured out.
For anyone new to this I suggest forgetting the "quick start guide" and sit down in front of your driverack and read the manual..cover to cover while referring to the drive itself. The quick start guide leaves a few bits of information out that are covered in the manual. Then once you have an understanding of the setup process you can refer to the quick start guide for any new setups you wish to configure.

You gotta love the feedback suppressor in this thing!

Manual? That's right it did come with a manual didn't it. My usual procedure is to glance through the manual and then have at it. I've always been a hands on learner. As long as you don't hit the "write" button you really can't hurt anything. If you start scrolling through the different menus it is rather intuitive even though it doesn't appear that way at first. That's how I found out I can do things with the PA version that the manual doesn't even talk about. In any case, have some fun with it, it's a powerful tool, you'll get the hang of it in short order.

OK...Well I first want to thank you all for recomending the DBX DriveRack Speaker Optimizer. I thought that this might help me in my quest for better sound but I had no idea that it would help this much! I am no sound guru by any strech and was worried that this might be over my head...But let me first say that I did use the quick start quide and thats it...I did not go over the Manual at all...

We use JBL EON 15's and the feed back was pretty bad no matter what we did to squelch it...Now it is gone. Other things that really stand out is that we are now able to use these speakers in a matter that matches their possibilites instead of the limits of the room...

What is nice is that I can set this up to match the rooms we are in then save those settings then when we are back we can just load the saved settings...

This is a killer device! So far I don't know how I have lived without one! When I have time I will go over the Manual to pick up other things that I can use to enhance the sound even more...But so for I am very happy!

Thanks to you guys for this recomendation!

Reading this post, I start to become very interested in this DBX Drivrack PX device as well.

Appreciate if anyone on this board can post a detail setup of the DBX DRIVERACK PX?

Thanks,

You guys really have me thinking about this drive rack upgrade, could it be made to work with a Yamaha 312 EMX powered mixer and non powered speakers? I was curious as to how it would be hooked up if it was possible. Rudy.

No it cannot be used with most powered mixers.
