I'd like to put together a collection of the most popular Christmas songs. What are your favorites and what disc(s) would you recommend?
I own the 5 disc SCDG Chartbusters Essentials, Sweet Georgia Brown 68 disc set, All Hits set, Supercore set, a Magic Tracks SCDG disc, two Pioneer SCDG discs and a smattering of other misc stuff so I may have some Christmas songs. I haven't printed books yet so I'll have to search my collection using an excel listing I created.
I'm looking to buy several discs with good quality versions.
Thanks

I do Chartbuster's " Jingle Bell Rock " and it's a fairly decent version. I have to say though that one of my favorite Christmas songs is U2's " Christmas, Baby Please Come Home " it's not available as a karaoke song, but it is on my wish list. Bono's voice was still razor sharp when they did this cover and he puts a ton of emotion in it. Rudy.

I tend toward obscure and depressing Christmas songs like in the drunk tank or in the trenches but when I have to pretend to be normal I like the Zoom Christmas Karaoke Vol. 2 (CDZM0014). It has a combo of rockers like Elton John and Queen plus the traditionals like Bing and Nat "King" Cole (17 songs total). But best of all it has the Ronettes . Chartbuster has some good packs of pop/country Christmas that are going on sale on various sites at midnight but Zoom was the first place that I could find the Ronettes versions--which sound particulary good when using a you know what wireless mic, I might add.

Well, fo karaoke, I LOVE doing Santa Baby. Music Maestro actually puts out a good version of it. Lately I've been using a version from Star Tracks by Omega Sound. It's not really karaoke, though - no graphics. I like the Christmas Songs Old and New by Pocket Songs - PSCDG6052 because it has a few things off Linda Eders Christmas album - I really like her version of Little Drummer Boy.
Still looking for a good version of O Holy Night that isn't the Celine Dion pop arrangement...would like to find a good classical arrangement for soprano that is only 2 or 3 verses instead of 6! *laugh*

I like Santa baby in the style of Madonna, Sound Choice.
I do a song called The Santa Claus Boogie. It's a Christmas song most people have never heard of that's fun. I know it is put out by Soundchoice.
Santa Claus is Coming to Town is another one that is usually an upbeat bar favorite. I only have the Soundchoice version.
I'm sorry I don't know any of the disc numbers off hand.

I have most of the Sound Choice Christmas & then a spattering from DK & Pioneer. 1 Star Disc that actually has a couple very good versions & a Karaoke.com promo X-mas disc with some more traditional & upeat songs including Adam Sandler Hanukkah Song. Unless the Billy Squier song Christmas Is A Time To Say I Love You is released, I probably won't get anymore X-mas songs. Already have a 4 page supplement that goes in my books about this time of year.

the only manufacturer that puts out Stevie Nicks' Silent Night is a New Zealand manufacturer and you can get the disc through Laser Direct in NZ
Her version is amazing, take a listen to the orig sometime...the voice of a crone singing about angels...the contrast is kinda weird but soooo very cool AND in a key thats is managable...I too love the Madonna version of Santa baby on soundchoice and Fairytale of New York is another fav but of course its a duet so you need a partner. Eagles please come home for Christmas is up there among favs for me too

If you like upbeat, funny Christmas songs in addition to the all time classics, try Chartbuster #20484R Whacky Christmas. It is a 6+6, so you only get 6 songs, but I personally like the Allan Sherman version of the twelve gifts of Christmas, Where on the first day he gets a Japanese transister radio. And also Ray Stevens' santa claus is watching you. Of coarse instead of Rudolf, santa has Clyde the camel. To me it was worth the money for those 2 songs alone.

Where's a good place to buy online a general Christmas karaoke disc with a variety of songs that's reputable?
I'm having some people over for a holiday party soon and thought it would be nice to have an xmas disc as many of them sing.

Do you hear what I hear.
Is "All thru the Night" Christmas ? Or just Traditional ?
Also, "Little Drummer Boy"

I have disc from "Pop Top Hits" that contains Christmas Time is Here (A Charlie Brown Christmas). I love singing it falsetto (imagine a guy with a baritone speaking and singing voice singing this soothing hip song falsetto). My wife gets a kick out of it.

Chartbusters has a 6 disc X-mas set and O Holy Night, the Larry Gatlin version, is, to me anyway, one of the best versions I've heard in a while. Might be worth checkin' out....lots of songs by various country artists and the instrumentals are top-notch. Just my !!

*grin* I like most Christmas songs--I'm just not ready for them to start playing before Thanksgiving!
BTW, sorry I haven't posted in a while. But I haven't been out karaoke-singing in ages--ok, months? This cold & flu season has hit me really hard (in the "cold" category, not the "flu" one), so singing has been about the last thing I feel like doing (besides working, !). However, since I play the piano at a church, I've been getting my Christmas song fix that way.

I like doing what I call the non-Christmas, Christmas song, "You're A Mean One Mr Grinch". Why do I call it that? Simple, in the lyrics there are no references to Jesus, Santa Claus, or anything else related to the Christma Season. In fact, reading the lyrics, it is more suitable for Halloween.

My daughter just stopped in, and she reminded me of another Christmas song.
"Dominic the Christmas Donkey". I did a yahoo search, and someone has their outside Christmas lights programmed to the music. Funny song, but maybe I think so, because I'm italian. Just thought I'd share.
