Karaoke Forums

Well, the fiancee and I are off to Bangkok in a few days. Taking another couple with us (who are also our Maid Of Honor and Best Man).

We're all complete karaoke fiends (me less so, cos it's now a job to me). Looking for some decent venues.

Now, this is clutching at straws, but anyone been to Bangkok? Any suggestions, karaoke or otherwise?

I can't help you on this one. I was there way back in the mid 80's so things must have change alot and I was not into karaoke then.

But try asking the hotel staff about it and be very specific that you want karaoke that offer mostly western songs.

and if you have the time come over to Kuching (Sarawak)and I can bring you around to some of the local karaoke bars.

Cheers Jian - I was last there 1995, and it had very few skyscrapers. Now it's mad full of them - with amazing bars at the top.

Now that would be a venue...

Stay out of the naughty places. I have a friend who goes there once a year on "business".

If you do go to the naughty bars, go to Soi Cowboy, stay away from the others unless you know someone or do a little research.

I think seeing the seedy side is part of the trip. I note: SEEING!

But yeah, Soi Cowboy is the "safe friendly disney" version of the seedy side!

I have been there. Nana is ok, but watch it! Goto Patpong during the day, don't go inside unless you know someone. I was in the Navy, I know these places and have friends there.

Well, I was in Bangkok not all that long ago...you can definitely find karaoke, although it's a bit different than what I was used to. The Westin Grande Sukumvit hotel has karaoke in the lounge - it was the only place I went to. Pretty sure there was some karaoke happening at the night market (can't remember what it's called) - but I think those places were also stip clubs....*laugh* Hope you guys have a safe and fun trip!

Strip Club + Karaoke = either biggest win or fail ever, not decided yet...

I brought my laptop and just hosted 2 of my own!! Low grade equipment but loads of fun. Not in bangkok though, Chiang Mai. Don't go to the "Karaokes" in Chiang Mai, they are for Japanese whore mongers usually. Darn it, I'm not Japanese.

Seriously, if you make friends at smaller venues, you can do some cool stuff. It is hard to find western karaoke there unless you love love love John Denver and The Eagles. So best bring your own.

But do go to Chiang Mai. My favorite place in Thailand!

Wouldn't matter. The airport there has the single largest terminal building in the world. No erection will last the length of that bloody building!
