What goes around comes around I'm so glad to hear you've had some luck come your way. You didn't deserve what happened to you.

Scott - Oh my, Now you have to decide what you're going to do with yourself.
If you're like me you are so used to being the entertainment when you do get a night off you wonder what you're going to do.
As far as the band goes -
I'm not worried about the band. It would be hard for them to walk off with my stuff with me there. It is an odd set up anyway. We take turns, so our equipment is basically squeezed into the same area. My speakers are permanently mounted and are passive speakers. Most bands use powered. My rack sits on the table covered when not used. The only thing they could possibly walk off with by mistake would be my mic stands. In the past the band packs up and leaves while karaoke is still going on, so they'd have to literally take them while they are being used.
I've been dealing with bands for years now. The owner has them come in once in a blue moon on a Saturday night. It is usually a band I am familiar with, so I haven't had a real problem. They've used a mic stand because they had one break during a show and told me after. No big deal.
Years ago I had a band take it upon themselves to use a speaker stand without telling me. Now that ticked me off since I had a part go missing. The nice thing is the part didn't cost me anything to replace. When I confronted a band member about it he was very apologetic and gave me $20 for my trouble. He asked me not to tell the leader of the band because he is the one that told them it would be okay without asking. Being these were brand new top of line Ultimate speaker stands I was mad. I guess their stand broke and they had been using it for weeks. I said I guess you'll have to do what I did and buy a new one.
I'll go and check on my stuff when I know a band is playing now. Plus I have spies in the bar.

I bet he has to take it all off.

I'll be volunteering at an alcohol-free New Year's Eve celebration -- providing music and possibly karaoke. Spinning CDs, trying to get people to sing, emceeing raffles and contests, and otherwise entertaining.

Doing something, anything other than anything involving karaoke!
Not sure what that will be yet?
My fiance says there is more than just karaoke.....just wondering if she could be right?

I try not to work NYE (amateur night), so I take off from bar work and I ask for a ridiculous amount of money for private parties.
Someones paying the ridiculous amount- I'm working.

hosting the early part of an outdoor street party and profiling young up and coming talent in town. The youngest is 9 I think. Gig runs from 4 till 7.30 I am getting paid well and the rest of the night is my own to do as I wish

I'm gigging in my local pub. It hardly feels like work anyway because its all my friends and I will have a drink too. There's nothing I love more than singing & playing when I've had a drink and I 'll get paid for it!
The only downside is, my girlfriend will be working elsewhere so the we'll only see each other when we both wake up nasty hangovers.
What do you guys do on New Years Day?
Usually we'll have a full English fry up & a fat cup of tea at about lunchtime & just watch the kids play with their new toys. Not much energy for anything else!

I'll be sleeping until noon. Eating breakfast - then a 2 hour nap - eating dinner - then catnapping while watching tv

Since my NYE job is celebrating at 9 (!!!!!) I'll be home by 2. I usually don't roll in until 3:30 from my home room so I'll be in bed earlier than normal. Jan 1st is a Thursday so it's back at it that night.
