I know of Duets (but haven't seen it yet).
Any other movies feature karaoke?

"Jackpot" with Garret Morris and Peggy Lipton in it.... I don't remember who else.
Both movies were bad, and did not portray Karaoke the way we know it to be.

I differ about Duets -- it may not be karaoke, but it's fun. It made me such a Paul Giamatti fan that now I have to see everything he does. Ever seen Sideways?

I have been in the military, so I see some depictions of military life, and go PUH-LEASE.
I was on a submarine, so I watch the submarines in films passing 50 yards from an underground ravine at high speed and go PUH-LEASE.
I am a computer expert, so I see things in movies and go PUH-LEASE.
If you know something about most any subject and watch it on film, you will realize that movies rarely get this stuff right. I try to suspend disbelief a bit -- it is hard to find fun if you can't do that. And also, I try to remember that other things I watch in movies may be just as far off as the stuff I have special knowledge of.

PUHL-LEASE???
Not so far-fetched as you might think!
It happened EXACTLY like that at a nearby bar about 9 months ago.
Incidentally, it was the same bar that wouldn't pay me after I set them up with a computerized system and transferred all their CDGs.
Just goes to show their integrity, or lack thereof.

I should clarify my prior statement... As a movie portraying Karaoke, it sucked (because it was so over the top as far as exageration (sp?) goes). As a movie, they were entertaining.

"My Best Friend's Wedding" had a scene with Cameron Diaz singing "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" very badly.

Not missing anything- it was pretty bad.
Don't know about other movies, but there was a documentary called Karaoke Knights, following the real life adventures of several, but focusing on four particular people- and I know them all! A Google search should bring it up...

I vaguely remember reading about that a few years ago. Wasn't that produced by someone on this forum?

Don'r know if she was on this forum or not. However, it was mostly filmed at the now defunct Sizzlin' Steak in Hackensack, NJ- not my show ( Sue from Sing Sing), but my bailiwick. All were patrons and friends.

Well, Bruce, this is where knowing how to read correctly, as well as spell AND proof read can come in handy.
Do a search for "Karaoke Knights documentary", not "karaoke nights".
The first result that comes up takes you to this:

My Bad. I do make a mistake every now and then. Thanks for the help.
SEE??? Now that is how a mature person handles being corrected by someone who obviously has an axe to grind.
I never claimed to be perfect; just closer to it than most of the people who can't make a single post without multiple errors in it. There are numerous people on these forums that don't know the difference between KNOW and NO or THERE, THEIR AND THEY'RE or TWO, TOO AND TO. Let's not even get into the people who can't spell some of the most commonly used words in the English language....or the people who can't sing their way out of a paper bag and have dozens of people who tell them what great singers they are. OH! That's right. That is the reason so many here have that axe grinding away.

I have no axe to grind. Just pointing the finger back at you after you've pointed it at so many. Aren't we humble! (oh, and by the way, your semicolon should really be a comma- just so ya know!) And let's not forget the common words "knight" and "night".
We sure wouldn't want to do THAT now, would we?

Or when they're looking at the list of songs to sing and it's like 2 pages long
