Was Mr. October (Michael) one of the other two you included, Jian ? Last I heard he loved that system.

(JD- Do a Keyword Search using Bose PAS, and a few years back there was a long thread on that system. Around that time the only downside -as I recall- was "expense" at around 2K, but that was two years back.. I vaguely recall that thread because Lonnie and Mr October were discussing 25 cent vs 26 cent guitar picks..... I have a weird memory), but I think the L1 is the Bose PAS that Michael bought and likes alot.

I am not a fan of the Bose. I have yet to hear one that sounds good, though people claim there are setups that do sound good. They get a bad rap from live sound people in general, though they certainly have their very fervent supporters.

JD you can PM me and I will be happy to discuss the Bose L1 with you. I can also direct you to others who can give you information. Those are KJ's who have actually used the system in multiple venues and can give you accurate information on the performance of the system. For the right venues the Bose system is fantastic. For others there may be other choices that fit better.

I had a week to use the Bose sticks & sub & it didn't compare to my system as far as enough loudness & fullness to what my own system brought to the table. I used it half the week as a monitor system on stage & it kicked (@$%&#!)!

There is someone here in Tampa Bay that uses the Bose L1. I don't particularly like it for karaoke use. The vocals are crystal clear, but the music is a bit tiny for my tastes. I think that the L1 subs just aren't enough for anything other than a small venue.

On the other hand, however, I have a good friend who has an L1 and uses it for his solo acoustic guitar show, and it may be the best system I have ever heard for that particular application!!

So it is all in what you need it for, I guess. In a smaller venue, I would bet it can't be beat, but then who is going to spend that kind of $$$ for a system with that kinda limitation?

R-H (who are amongst the world leaders in innovative audio design)are making them (line arrays) for live sound but with advanced features and I'd expect at a much higher price. I haven't heard them although I have heard the Bose. I think one difference is the overall effect of sound pressure coming from a wedged radiation versus a spherical. It's like hearing digital cd for the first time where the transparency and clarity is stark, very loud but very stark. Has anyone tried it with 2 columns and or 2 subs.

What was the Bose setup and what was your comparison setup?

I own one and do not use it very much. It is just not loud enough.

I use mine primarily for second room fill, back fill, wedding ceremony sound. They are great for low level background music. Being a powered unit they are very easy to run wireless.

I don't remember, these were when they were still marketed as the PAS which stood for 'personal audio system' designed for musicians to have their own monitor on stage. Which they did work AWESOME for. My comparison setup was my main system consisting of 3 2 way 15" cabs, dual 18" subs & about 3000 watts. 2 sticks & 2 subs are what I used, didn't even come CLOSE to filling the room & lacked alot of bass.

i have single model II with double bass and the T1 mixer

worth it? if you can afford it and your business can pay it back then yes its worth it
Right now i use it primarily for private parties ie Corporate Happy Hours and Weddings.

Get great complements. setup wise and sound wise.

Granted yes its not as loud (Bass thumping) as a traditional Speaker Setup. It is not piercing loud as a traditional Tweeters either.

My playlist ranges all over.

go try it out. trial period. if you do not like it return it get a refund.

i like it because it is compact and something different.

Traditional speakers that are crossed over & properly amp matched to the speakers won't sound piercing either. Most pierceing systems are due to too low powered of an amp for a particular speakers rating.

It doesn't look like there's much room for power but I know it's possible to singlehandedly curl a 9000 watt amp these days. The model 2 is rated at 500 watts and is twice the price of the model 1. There is a dual setup for the model 1 that has 4 bass mods for a whopping 2800 watts for around 4Gs. I didn't see any spl numbers. So maybe that would be suitable for bigger sound.
