Hi I am some what new to the world of Karaoke. I like it so far. But the problem is when I go to the store to look for a Karaoke Cd I only find one or two songs out of the 20 on the cd that I actually like. So my first question, is there a program out there that I can take a song from my computer and erase the words so just the music is left. My second question, is there software out there to put the words and music together on one cd to play on a karaoke machine? If there is no way to do this, is there a website where I can download individual songs to compile a personal cd? If anyone has suggestions on my questions on how to do this please help?

Thanks
-Aaron

Yes there are a few. Winamp have a plugin to remove vocal, and there are other players that will do the same. BUT you will not get good result.

Also yes. but since you do not have a good backing track to start with, you will wate a lot of time.

That said, there are people in this forum who are expert in the use of both the above programs.

Yes, there are programs out there that sorta remove vocals, but none do a great job all the time. They might do a decent job on certain songs, depending on how they are recorde, (stereo,,multi track,,vocals in the middle? etc..). I use one called Vogone. I think it's the best one out there. However, on the majority of songs, the de-vocalized versions sound like they are either "under water" or it removes some of the music too, or just plainly doesn't work. It's a hit and miss thing.

The second question...yes there are very good programs that will combine the music and printed words,,just like you see on a karaoke disc. Same format when you get the finished product. Dart Producer is one, PowerKaraokePlus in another, and Karaoke CD+G Creator is still another. All do about the same thing, but some have better features than others. None of them are really "cheap" to purchase, but if there is a particular song that does not exist on any karaoke discs already, it's your only choice if you really want the song. All of these are "practice makes perfect" type of programs, trial and error, until you are satified with the outcome.

The third question about the websites to download from, my best advice is to keep searching the forum, and someone will have a few good sites to download from.

Good luck

your best bet is to find someone to make you a backing track, and then make your own if you don't like what's commercially out there.
