As I visited your site the 1st time :
I agree the intro is too busy and takes to long to INTRODUCE who and what you are
I would rather see a STILL screen for a few seconds as soon as I visit your site so I know immeditaley WHAT and WHO you are and then go to the fancy moving graphics ( which can easily be ignored on futre site visits). The next is your home page Which makes you READ the page to still see who and what you have to offer.
I would rather see KEY POINTS immediately on the home page with links to wordy details. IE KARAOKE and MOBILE ENTERTAINMENT or something similiar to CATCH the clients eys on what they want ...Either Karaoke or DJ - Once they pick which direction or interest the client wants - your details , descriptions and pictures should focus on THAT ( either DJ or Karaoke )..don't mix . I think you lose something there.
Other than that ...... BUt what do hell do I know

I'm sorry you didn't like what I had to say, but I have as much right as anyone on the board to say it. I certainly didn't say you didn't have anything valuable to say. Nor did I say that eben wouldn't consider what you had to say. You have your opinion and you're entitled to it. But I'm sure I'm not not the only one who thought you could have lessened the edge to what you had to say.
One of the recent problems with this site is people commenting on what others peopel had to resond instead of just focusing on the OP question ( I'm sort of guilty of that here). When someone asks the questions they need to be prepared to what people might say. This of course is an open forum which needs no motherly advice or grammer corrections or people pointing our typo or spelling mistakes ..its a karaoke forum.

Agreed, and as you can see, my posts carried none of those.
What it did carry was my own experience regarding manufacters and an explanation of why I thought it was a good idea to include. It was still completely on topic.
Sorry for the minor highjack. Back to the case at hand....
I noticed some of you saw the page at the left of the screen. I have a resolution of 1280 X 800 and use Firefox.
The page is centered on my screen.
Maybe my browser has something to do with it?

It depends what version you have. I'm using firefox too and it is aligned left on my screen. However, the main table alignment is not defined in the code so it could be that whatever version you are using will align centre by default.
<table width="700" border="0">
Forefox & IE align text differently by default too. One aligns left & the other aligns centre if the attribute is not defined.

I think a lot is personal preference.
I liked the intro. I guess there is a point though about the wait for the information page to come up after the video intro. The "Home Page" did come up for me at the end of it.
I notice a lot of web sites that have the video intro have a prompt on them that says "Click Here to Enter", so you can bypass it if you'd like. Just an idea.
I also liked the idea Flipper gave to post a picture of your equipment instead of a listing. I think that is more impressive to a layman.
As far as listing the manus - I personally like it. I have a lot of people ask what they are. Many KJs list them in there books to avoid the constant question. Listing them on a different page maybe - in the "What We Offer" section.
I just looked at the website again and Eben put Skip Intro above the video. I didn't notice that before.
Eben you might already know this - The video is no longer playing - it a a blank white box.

Wow, I thought I'd get a few comments but I have created a controversy.
Thanks all for the comments. I will take all of them in to consideration. I think many of the comments are personal choices, as evident in this discussion. I will see what I feel will help with the web site and will implement or fix in next few weeks. I did the site all by myself, with the graphics done by a friend of mine.
Thanks again.

Wow, eben!
I'm impressed. For me to build something like that by myself would take me weeks at best.
Great job, overall.

I don't think you created a controversy. I think it is a good idea to bounce your site off of others here to tweak it a bit.
You did a great job of putting together that website by yourself. I could not have done what you did. I made the assumption you had it professionally done.
Everybody has personal preferences with what they like to see on a website and I think there were some good comments posted. I have not stepped up to the plate and completely designed my website yet as I'm in a quandary about the content I want on there.
I think it is really important to focus on what type of people you want to attract to your site and word it for those folks. My problem is I want to attract customers and potential customers as well as have a place where other KJ's can go to and have not figured out a good way to pull it all together.
I have a design in place but I'm constantly changing it and I will continue doing so until I feel that I have created a site that reflects the true essence of my business. I have been working on it for almost a year now and I'm nowhere near completed..
I commend you for your effort and courage to ask opinions in an open forum.

Eben
I have developed several websites and it took years to finally get them where I wanted them. Granted, in my case, the businesses changed over time. Nonetheless, the basics were always being challenged and re-created. In short, a good website will be a work in process for quite some time. However, I never strayed from the "outline" I had established from the onset as to how the site would present what I had to "say"
Do not minimize my question of whether you're promoting yourself primarily as a KJ or Dj. You surely haven't attempted to go the "I am an entertainment company" route. And unless your find your "identity" and try to define a niche, you will find yourself conflicted as to what you want to emphasize in your copy! I've seen this problem before in marketing efforts and on other web sites
Best of luck

Eben,
I like your site. You have a lot of information there. I imagine that the detail will be useful to some but even if people aren't knowledgable enough to understand it I think they will still be impressed by it.
I especially liked the testimonials page.
The only suggestion I can make is to use photo processing software to remove the red-eye from photos taken with a flash.
I think you've done a nice job and it's obvious you've spent a lot of time developing your site. Don't forget to promote the hell out of it so people will know it's there.
Larry

Thanks. The initial graphics is done in FLASH, rest are done in Dreamweaver. The menu is javascript. I downloaded the javascript and made changes for the menu. The FLASH was done by my friend, not yet good enough to do it on my own.
