I've seen and read all these posts. Different ways of filling dead air space. I think the compuhost FillerTunes feature will work fine for me. I can change the fade speed and time and also have a different song come on each time the FIllerTunes is activated (between karaoke songs) or I can have the same song keep popping up until it is finished. I also think the scrolling marquee at the bottom of the monitor will help keep sings coming up quickly and efficiently.

I agree with you. Several songs i use for my filler music has resulted in a singer asking me for the song in karaoke so they could try it. In the event that filler music brings people to the dance floor I will play the song thru and my regular singers don't seem to mind. It works for my venues. Dead air IMO is never good.

Agree with all of that. Some places it works & others it doesn't, there's no right or wrong, just whatever works for you & the venue you're at.
Last night, one of my filler songs was 'Maria Maria' by Santana. Immediately someone gave me a slip to sing it.

Clubdjpro can be manipulated to play the second player while the first one is audible... It also has a skip silence feature.

I don't like those, however. I like the audience to see the title of the song and manufacturer as well... But I don't have a lack of music... I have a third player playing the music as MrScott talks about... fade in and out when needed.

By "find disks" I was mostly referring to the type of host that allows the regulars to come up and decide their song on the spot, using the filler music as cover. When the number of singers per hour goes below 10, or even lower, I leave. I have never seen a show like that stick around long term.

In our case that is normal procedure, takes all of 2-3 seconds and the song is qued and playing. Compuhost would not work for our high paced shows. It would slow the pace and drag it down considerably. Personally I dont have time to pull CD'S and restore them. Have you ever done a show outside in the dark and only a single yellow light bulb for light?

We are not sitting there learning new things or trying to develop a format. We have run digital karaoke for about 8 years using several software programs.

Our show formats change dynamically as situations or crowds change. Arguing fll or no fill, dance or no dance is mute. Our waitresses dance on the bar..I havnt done it for a awhile but at the VFW we used to do cakewalks for charity.

I don't understand how compuhost would slow it down, all your songs are qued in advanced, you can fade one song out and start the next one and even wilthout filler music maybe have 4 seconds of silence. How would that slow it down "considerably".

I wonder the same question since Compuhost has autoplay as a choice in the rotation setings. Not that I use it.
I don't do filler music between my singers as they don't respond when you call their name. I have a couple that are up there before the end of the last song before their turn that speeds up the show but I also have those that take their sweet time getting to the mike. If they are outside or in the bathroom I skip them until they return to the room.

:) I thought we were talking about singers changing and queing a different song on the fly..

Requote...

Let me rephrase my response

I dont use CD'S and dont have the time to pull, load and put back wherever. I can search go into singer history que and have the song playing in about 3 seconds. In less time than it takes to say yea we can do that.

I can change fill playlists in 1 second. Shift to player 2 (mouseclick) 1 second and highlight the song to fade to Total of 2 seconds.

In the overall operation I have the software that suits my dynamic formats, KJ or DJ or combination of both. And I can sit a computer illiterate down and have them hosting in minutes.
