I had a week to use the Bose sticks & sub & it didn't compare to my system as far as enough loudness & fullness to what my own system brought to the table. I used it half the week as a monitor system on stage & it kicked (@$%&#!)!

What was the Bose setup and what was your comparison setup?

I don't remember, these were when they were still marketed as the PAS which stood for 'personal audio system' designed for musicians to have their own monitor on stage. Which they did work AWESOME for. My comparison setup was my main system consisting of 3 2 way 15" cabs, dual 18" subs & about 3000 watts. 2 sticks & 2 subs are what I used, didn't even come CLOSE to filling the room & lacked alot of bass.

It doesn't look like there's much room for power but I know it's possible to singlehandedly curl a 9000 watt amp these days. The model 2 is rated at 500 watts and is twice the price of the model 1. There is a dual setup for the model 1 that has 4 bass mods for a whopping 2800 watts for around 4Gs. I didn't see any spl numbers. So maybe that would be suitable for bigger sound.

Maybe, but at twice the price of the original which I thought was way overpriced to begin with is definitely not worth it IMO.

Does it sound 4 times as loud?
How did you measure the SPL?

The venue market intended for these look more like high paying corporate type gigs where the pitch is return on investment. The quick setup time is one consideration and the sound quality another.

The Bose ones I'm sure are much lower priced than the R-H compact line array. The R-H have class-d amps for each driver for steering the sound with software, and a separately powered 2x15" sub plus more. There are about a half dozen configurations when combining multiples of the the two components. These can also be used for concert sound with plenty of SPL(102 dB pgm, 105 dB peak for a single beam and 133 dB program, 136 dB peak for the sub). The stick total power is 800 RMS and the sub 1700 RMS, all class-D. All with a price.

It looks like the sub makes a difference though.

A increase of 3db is 2 times as loud to the human ear so 6db is 4 times as loud.

My measurments were taken with a Reed SL-4012 at 1 meter. I was suprised that both of the products meet manu specs.

Is there anywhere on the web I can get the specs?
