Folks,
I need to share my recent experience;
I've been shopping around to the major pro stores around here, hoping to find the Behringer B-2092A, it's a studio 360 watts active subwoofer. Well, guess what, everywhere I went, they all said the same thing, forget Behringer, the party is over for them, we no longer wish to sell their products and we are clearing out our inventory, the company is going down they said I'm told that they have changed name (corporate) many times and are searching manufactures for their products, they no longer have QC and it's becoming a nightmare with the consumer complaining about the poor quality and NO service!!
I've visited 5 different stores + some phone calls at different stores, all places that used to sell the brand no longer wish to support it anymore, it used to be OK they said, but now, it just doesn't get worst they said
Hey, not trying to hurt the brand, I really wanted that sub, but I really got scared I ended up buying a real pro sub but it cost me more...

Well isn't that a cryin' shame!
I know Sweetwater sound refused to sell their products from the start - a customer service rep I talked with said it was primarily due to lack of quality. They even have on their search we do not sell Behringer products.

I uses someone's elses equipment at a party early this year. The speakers were behringer. The sound was badly distorted. I do not recommend their speakers.
While I don't have any experience with their amps I did have my peavy powered mixer serviced earlier this year and the repairman made the comment that every piece and component in behringers were the cheapest that could be found.

PILE ON...... Over the years I've used various brands. I started out with PEAVEY and used MACKIE - YAMAHA and ...even the dreaded BEHRINGER.
Without making this a drawn out post I'll just say ... Behringer is not as BAD as people say... I've used their top of the line speakers, mixers and powered mixers and for the price .. you can not beat some of their products. Personally I would hate to see them go........They do have a place on the market !!!!!!!

It appears to be yet another example of a good idea gone bad. That's what happens when greed gets in the way of an idea. Some number cruncher somewhere figured out that if he could buy materials cheaper and find cheap labor in China that they could make more profit per unit. So what's the total profit on zero units? I wouldn't be to quick to celebrate the demise of Behringer as I'm sure the existence of Behringer did impact pricing policies for some entry level and other niche market companies. I owned a Behringer Xenyx 1832FX mixer once, granted not for very long, although it did as advertised, it just didn't do it very well. I wasn't expecting much, but I was expecting more than I got. Some teenager in Grand Rapids now owns it, last I knew anyway.

I agree. They are spotty, no doubt. They are not top quality, especially some of their things. But when the product is used year in, year out in real applications with decent sound quality, it can't be too bad.
I have had some DOAs with Behringer. I never got stuck with a bad piece of equipment -- I either returned it or got it quickly and cheerfully repaired by Behringer.
I own four of their speakers, three of their powered/unpowered mixers, two power amps, a compressor, a crossover, and two EQs. The EQs are the only things I think are kind of bad. The rest are quite good for the price, especially the amps and speakers.
That being said, I recognize that it is not the best quality. I am tending not to buy Behringer these days. But I also believe they have done a service to many of us by bringing prices and making pro audio affordable for a lot more people. (Some people actually decry that state of affairs, though.)

the only thing they did for me is teach me that buying their 1208x mixer was a huge mistake, and for a hundred dollars more, I could have gotten the nicer Mackie DFX mixer.
That being said, even the DFX has issues, based on the limitations of the mixer. I should have listened to my gut and gotten the CFX... but I went CHEAP, and now have the lesser mixer. It works just fine, but I really wanted that midrange adjustment!
The Behrenger went out on me 2 months after we got it. the FX was the first to go, then a couple channels went... gave it to Tig and he played around with it at home for about a year or so, until it finally went Tango Uniform.
My DFX12 has yet to have given me ANY grief.

Behringer does have some useful ideas, I do like their illuminated faders on some of their equalizers that blink when feedback is present , I wish my DBX 31 Band had them for it is hard to ring out a room from feedback with human hearing alone without a spectrum analyzer.

I'm not to sure Behringer had any ideas of their own, at least not in the last few years. I think the feedback sensing EQ idea was borrowed from Peavey's line of QF equalizers and we all know what their EP series amp's resemble.

Many manufacturers believe if they LIST their items with a higher price tag many people will be believe It MUST BE BETTER. Sometimes it's just not true ....
Some KJ's think to spend $5000 per speaker is the only way to go.
But it all depends on your needs.
And to those who would like to see Behringer go ... Just think about the cost of your next Mackie product if a company like Behringer is not around to keep them competitive !!!
And if a Behringer 12 channel mixer goes for $200 and a Mackie 12 channerl Mixer goes for $300 both with the SAME features ..It may be $100 but it's also a 50% price increase. To some thats a big deal

Loud Technologies (Alvarez, Ampeg, Crate, EAW, Knilling, Mackie, SIA and TAPCO) lost a third of it's total manufacturing from doing business in China. They lost their major financier and had trouble with NASDAQ for not reporting their earnings. Outsourcing has backfired.
They may be dropping like flies in the coming year.

It's kind of what I heard from some guy's at store level, Behringer is really searching for some manufacture in Asia and at this stage, quality is not their priority ( I Know, never been...) it looks like there trying to survive
There's something we gotta give Uli, he forced the major brands to drop their prices, and that's a fact, they did
I'd be curious to know how many company's really manufacture these pro gear in China I bet you not many It's like buying a CDR, many, many brands out there but only 3-4 big players making the disk!!

Well remember when they put out their 24*8*2 recording board, the thing WAS nearly identical to the Mackie version - so much so that some of the parts were interchangeable. Mackie sued & Behringer had to pull that model from being sold in the states. They have since redesigned it but it is still very close. They always did have a knack for 'creative' copycatting!

I share that view
Behringer has always been a marketing company, I don't even think they had a R&D department They need something that looks like the big guy's and at a lower price, quite an easy formula I must say... Create the brand, promote it at retail hoping you can get a brand recognition and import by containers from a oem manufacture in Asia

I don't think I ever saw anyone recommending $5000 per speaker.
As far as the mixers having the same features, that may be true but a side by side comparison will show the difference in sound! Just because something works ok, doesn't mean it works well.

I went to look at a Behringer mixer once and something seemed odd but it took me awhile to figure it out. It was an Alesis mixer with the chassis and knobs identical though the layout was slightly different. There are a lot of similarities with their amps and other manufacturers. They supposedly had a large campus facility with engineering staff as well as manufacturing. There are a lot of knockoffs produced in China that from the outside you can't tell the difference. You'd be shocked at what can be done. But again there has to be the demand for the products. The economic world has seemed to have stopped. No one is buying like they used to. Let's cross our fingers.
