Ok people..I gotta ask...what the heck has happened to all the music videos??!!
I mean..I have MTV, VH1, AND CMT...and there are rarely ever any freakin' videos on the darn things!!! I remember when I was a younger Sinna...and you could flip on MTV any old time and watch some totally cool music videos!!! Now they have all these different supposed "MUSIC" channels...and what's on 'em?? Well I never really know what to expect ...but mostly stupid reality shows...NOT music!!
Can we rebel or something? I totally miss the 80's and early 90's...*sigh*

I know...sad isn't it? hehehe
It just blows me away though...I remember all those cool 80's music videos...dancin' around like a fool playin' air guitar and singin' into my hairbrush..and now I flip to MTV and what's on? Runs House...Pimp My Ride...I'm like WTF???

Yap you're right Tammy. MTV in the 80's was cutting edge, fun videos. You had about five different VJ's that would host their own shows and play their favorite videos. You could keep up with what was new. But not anymore. The reality show, game show, fashion specials and occasional old movies or TV shows have replaced a lot of the showings of actual videos. Looks like all the videos have shifted over to the channels' websites instead.

Exactly Don!! A fat lot of good it does the poor folks like me who are stuck in dial-up hell to have the videos ONLINE instead of on tv...it would only take me about a million years to download a music video for heavens sake!!! If it's supposed to be music tv I wanna see MUSIC...is that so much to ask?
And quit that lurkin' durn ya! I never know if you're here or not ...maybe you aren't...maybe I'm just talking to myself again...oooo the voices...

That's right, you're still stuck with dial-up out there in the sticks. It's not fair!
Those voices are annoying aren't they? ha,ha OK, I'll remove the cloaking device.

Hi Sinnamon, I think it could have something to do with the fact that NOBODY makes a MUSIC video anymore. It gets pretty old looking at the SAME video theme, a bunch of guys in a strip club, "pimpin'," with a bunch of half naked women shakin' what their mama gave them. No one playin' any kind of instrument, nothin'. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind looking at the women, but it gets "old" after a while.
Just thought I'd give my two cents, bye.

True srnitynow...they do seem to get a little repetitive with the club scene don't they? But it shouldn't be TOO dang hard to come up with a decent unique video just by using what the flippin' song is ABOUT...I mean most songs do have a story to tell, do they not? Sure some are made for the sole purpose of butt shaking hehe..but most have some kinda meaning behind them!
Hmmm...maybe I should go produce music videos...I need a new job...'course no one would ever see them on TV!!!

What the hail are you ranting and raving about now Sinna?
Want me to make you some rock videos and post them on YouTube for ya, will that make ya feel better?
......
(you're pretty good at that "being bytchy" thing, perhaps we really are long lost sisters?)

I was just talking about this same thing with some folks the other day. I know on digital cable there are off shoots of MTV, VH1 and CMT that pretty much play only videos. I think its MTV3, VH1 Classic, VH1 Soul and CMT Pure. The only time I have found that you can find a video on the main stations is early early in the morning.

VH-1 Classic and Palladium which is on the HD channels on my cable provider do still play some great videos. Palladium will play country, rock and a lot of other music genres. What I like to do is record VH-1's 120 minutes or 80's videos and play it back later skipping through the songs I already know and looking out for gems that were perhaps little known or hard to remember songs.
Recently I came across Blur's " Boys and Girls " video, a funky but danceable song that I hadn't thought of in eons. It is available in karaoke form and I plan on getting it just to shake things up a bit at my Bro's show. Rudy.

I know I miss the videos too. I've watched metal mania on VH-1 on Saturday, but I think they use the same playlist week after week. No new vids, kinda depressing.
And Shoesy (Shoesy is that a word?) I too just listened to your Joan Jett sub, excellent job. A video of you doin' that would be great

I noticed a while ago MTV stopped playing videos. I was told MTV2 plays them. With so many pay channels now because of cable I find specific channels solely dedicated to that type of thing.

It's too bad that you have to pay a little extra to get the channel package with MTV2&3, VH-1 Classic and CMT Pure.

33? Damn, I have socks older than 33..
MTV and related channels, are playing the "Lowest Common Denominator" game.
They believe the cRAP music will take over the world and make them (him) rich..
Lately, ownership decisions have been poor to say the least.
I'm pleased I don't own any stock over there..

I think I have 2 MTV channels(but maybe only 1 hell I rarely ever watch tv hehe), VH1, and CMT in the package I have. I think it sucks that ya gotta pay more to actually see some darn videos! Mongo is right though..if I get up and switch on early enough I get to see Jump Start on VH1 and Power Picks on CMT...but by noon they are long gone. I mean some of the other shows they have are ok...but they could at least run some videos in between that nonsense!! I agree with jd too(and lmao at the 33 year old socks )...not real big on the rap videos...are these really even videos cos they all look the same?!

<- - - -is only nineteen and frequently rants about things not being like they were in the good ole days.
I don't have much time for television, but when I do I like to watch music videos. My dorm room only get's basic cable, and I'm a broke college kid, so an upgrade is out of the question. There's never any on! I get off of work a ten a night, I turn on the television, and there aren't any on! I get out of class around one, I turn on the tv and there are no videos on. The only time I get to watch any is if I skip going to the gym one morning to watch the tv, and then it's only on for a few hours! God forbid they play videos when people are actualy awake! I've given up completely and started listening to the radio (I did however, get hooked on the random Charm School Reality Show). Who needs the see the actual artists anyway? :-p
As for the rap thing, it's a shame that it's completely taking over the airwaves, and every song under the sun is being remixed with that stuff in it before it's even played over the radio. The sad thing is, I recently discovered that not all of it garbage. Just the mainstream stuff, but it's that way with a lot of music now I guess. I've been typing forever, so I'm going to shut up now.,

I completely agree with ya man...it's crazy that you have "MUSIC TV", "Country MUSIC Television", & "VIDEO Hits 1"...but can't find a darn thing about music or videos on any of 'em for what..90% of most of the world's waking hours? I'm like you...to find new music I now have to resort to the radio most of the time...
As for the rap stuff...I actually like some of it a lot...especially the fun dance-oriented stuff!! A lot of it is just boring and repetitive tho...
