I am currently using WinCDG Pro for my karaoke software but after reading all the posts here about CompuHost, I wanted to try demoing it. I do like some of the feature on the program, including the singer history.
However, here is my problem....I have my secondary monitor/TV configured but when I start CompuHost and tell it so, it doesn't seem to launch the performer's screen. I know that my secondary monitor is configured correctly with "extend my screen on to this monitor" etc. because it works just fine in both WinCDG and KaraFun. I can also manually drag the whole program onto the second monitor and see everything fine so if know everything is hooked up and configured correctly. There is just no performer's screen in CompuHost! If I start Compuhost in evaluation mode, I can even drag the evaluation performer's screen to the second monitor and view it. I have checked the screen resolution and anything else I could find in the documentation, but no luck.
I certainly don't want to fork out any money for the program if I can't get the dual monitor feature to work correctly!
Thanks for any suggestions!

Instead of "extend my screen" have you tried "extended desktop"? That is how CompuHost would normally run.

Sorry...I just used the wrong term. I have set it to "extend my desktop".

Once you have done that, close CompuHost and start it again. Then at that dialog screen that comes up in the demo, make the right choice (which is not the "mini evaluation screen". That should do it.

I've done all of that, but it's not working. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled the demo. My video card is set to "extend the desktop" onto the second monitor, I choose "Yes" when Compuhost starts (which is the selection for the full size performer's screen) but the performer's screen does not appear. Once again, I believe that my video card settings aren't the issue (unless Compuhost is very picky) because the dual monitor feature works seemlessly in both WinCDG and Karafun.
Thanks,

Don't know what to say. Have you tried the "System Devices and Options" screen in Compuhost? That is where you do the detailed setting.

Yup, I've looked at that too but I just can't see anything that looks like I haven't setup right. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something very obvious and to see if anyone else had run into this issue. Maybe this is just the Karaoke God's way of telling me that I don't need to spend more money right now

the demo version of clubdjpro will do a "force" to singer screen... but as you said, your other two programs you use have no problems with the extended desktop.

In the "System Devices and Options" the "Primary Screen Width and Height" should match your current Primary/Main screen setting. These settings are automatically set by CompuHost when first launched, but you may have inadvertantly changed them.
Also, be sure to select the "Secondary Screen Size" that matches the size setting of your Extended Screen.

the yes answer gives you the floating mini evaluation screen i believe. Try saying no.

Thanks for the additional ideas but unfortunately I have tried them all...
The CompuHost help for setting up dual-monitors only tells me everything I have already tried and done.
I had already checked to make sure the screen resolution settings matched as well, because I believe that is one of the suggestions on the CompuHost site. They didn't match initially, but even after making sure everything was the same, it still isn't working.
As for Danny's post, I will have to disagree...No gives you the floating mini evaluation screen because you are saying "No, I haven't set up or attached a second monitor". In addition, I have tried saying yes and no...no pops up the mini screen and yes give me nothing.
So still no luck but thanks for the additional suggestions!

When you drag the performer screen to the secondary display does it fit? If it does, your resolution settings are correct.
Have you tried using the arrows available on the settings dialogue pop up to move the performer screen to the secondary display? If that works, you only have to do it once. compuhost will remember to put it there the next time you load it if you choose save and exit.

Hi st1rin2gs,
Thanks for the post. The problem arises because when I choose the option to display the secondary performer's screen (as opposed to the mini evaluation screen)...the performers screen doesn't even open. I have checked to make sure that it isn't hiding behind the application or anything like that but I can't find it, so I can't move or resize what isn't there. If I open in the mini evaluation mode, I can pull that screen over onto the second monitor but you can't resize it or anything.
I have tried using the arrows in the settings thinking that maybe it was opening off the screen, but no luck there either.
Thanks again for the input!

Try deleting the "default.cfg" file found in the CH folder. This will in effect let CH determine the positioning all over again.

tbreen That is a good idea I know the OP said they had uninstalled and reinstalled but a lot of times those cfg files are left behind.
Your idea may just be the answer. If they are "delete intolerant" then they could just move that file elsewhere or rename it "old_default.cfg"

I really had my fingers crossed that deleting the default.cfg file was going to do the trick, but no luck! The performer's screen still doesn't seem to launch.
Thanks anyway for the idea

What video card is on the computer? Maybe one of us has the same device and we can look in all the settings windows.

This is strange! But I have one last thought.....
In what direction do you have to move your mouse to drag it over the extended portion of your screen? Most video cards automatically extend the screen to the RIGHT, which I think CH depends on. This would of course require that you drag your mouse to the RIGHT, however I have seen some video cards offer the choice of which direction the screen extends, right, left up or down.
If you are dragging your mouse in any direction but RIGHT, you may wish to locate the pproper setting in your Video Card setup and reset it to the RIGHT.
Just guessing, fingers crossed,
