I don't care for the old Johnny Cash version - but I wouldn't mind doing the Social Distortion cover, if that comes out on karaoke!

Actually, I'm now confused.
Are we trying to identify songs that were originally "dumb", but made it to karaoke nonetheless?
-or-
Are we trying to identify songs that were "dumb to produce" in a karaoke version, such as Tequila, Wipeout, or Alley Cat?
-or-
Are we trying to identify songs that we were dumb to buy in a karaoke version since the original version would have sufficed and have been cheaper to purchase, such as Tequila or Wipeout or Alley Cat?
-or-
Are we trying to identify purchases that we were taken advantage of when the manufacturer basically put an instrumental number on a karaoke disc and we got stuck with that track in the process of acquiring tracks we were interested in having?
Yeah, I like any Johnny Cash song - original or karaoke version

Hi Morgan, as I stated, it is a very popular song here also, and alot of the women I've seen sing it really "get down with it", but I guess what I'm confused about is "WHAT IS THE WOMAN SINGING ABOUT"? Is she trippin', or what, telling a horse "you're not the one for me." ![Shocked ](./images/smilies/icon_eek.gif) Sorry, if this is off the subject, but inquiring minds want to know. ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

The absolute worst song that has ever been made into karaoke that someone has actually sang at my bar is MY DING-A-LING by Chuck Berry. Again, I appreciate the boldness of the sexual inuindo in the 1960s, but the song is just plain stupid today.

Funny, every time someone sings Black Horse and Cherry Tree I'm left scratching my head. Same sort of lyrics as Sheryl Crow and Paul McCartney...not much sense to them. Can't spend a lot of time trying to translate.
It is a very, very popular song, and one that always gets the crowd's attention; add to that one, in our area anywhere, "Mercy" by Duffy, and "Say it Right" by Nellie Furtado. People really seem to enjoy listening to those songs.
I'm with everyone else who abhors "Elvira" - and "Seven Bridges Road" can be horrible torture when attempted by people who think they can harmonize and can't... However, I have had groups sing it who really can harmonize, I turn down the music, just leave the mics with volume.

Kid Rock /Cheryl Crow - Picture : I will sometimes make bets that whoever signs the male part will mumble all the way through and when it comes to "I was off to drink you away..." He yells it at the top of his lungs.
I love that Tequila song. For all the same reasons stated here already ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I think it is all the above. What ever seems like a dumb song in your opinion.

I always have compression threshold highlighted on my Driverack screen so I can adjust it during the night according to the singing style of the person currently up. I usually take "Picture" off, but if I'm unfortunate enough to be onstage, Just before that line, I'll run that sucker up to like -12dB...
"Tequila" would have to be an official karaoke version just so that word would pop up on the screen huh? I mean that's part of the process. And the joke. So is there a setup... like a 4 count just before tequila... to make it look like it's really important to get it in time?
That would make it kinda cool anyway...

While, generally speaking, My Ding-A-Ling is not at all entertaining, as a sing-a-long, it is a gem. I encourage sing-a-alongs at my show as a means by which to get the mic in the hands of someone who might otherwise never clasp one. And after the first "clasp", I got 'em!
Oh, and Babs, thanks for helping me out with which "dumb" we were discussing. I hope the question didn't appear dumb!

I made this one myself, and it came out perfectly! I get a lot of requests for it, as well as people telling me that no one else has it. I know. Of course it cost me a lot when you consider the software and time that it took.

There seems to be a mix and match naming both dumbest AND most annoying, so:
Dumbest: The theme from the Underdog Cartoon ( which doesn't stop me from doing it now and then.. ![Mr. Green ](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif) )
Most Annoying: By FAR, Paradise (retch) By The (ick) Nauseating Dashboard Let Me IcePick My Ears Light, as normally yowled by a minimum of four completely pie-eyed drunk tone deaf participants. Host in the bathroom time.... ![Vomit :vomit:](./images/smilies/throwupen.gif)

well I have never really thought bout the words...could be the whole "hung like a horse" inference,,,but here is what KT said herself...
In The Guardian newspaper of February 24, 2006, Tunstall explained: "It's a metaphor for good and evil. One summer, I was traveling in Greece on a little moped and this massive black horse had broken free in an olive grove and was going nuts. It looked apocalyptic: a seed was sown. I wrote the song years later in a tiny studio in Shepherd's Bush. I was about to tour Scottish coffee shops and was worried about coming across like Phoebe from Friends. At the same time I saw a brilliant guy called Son of Dave who looked like a ginger nylon 1980s' Elvis: really raw blues with just voice and effects. I got a pedal and one of my techie friends helped me put myself and my guitar through it. It's probably the most scientific I've been, but the song was written in a 10-minute burst. The lyrics where my 'Heart stops dead' refer to a heart murmur I had as a baby. I got into this fantasy that my heart felt betrayed and had decided to stop working. The song is about having to dig incredibly deep to find out who you wanna be." (thanks, Edward Pearce - Ashford, Kent, England)

Thanks Morgan for finding that info on the Black Horse song. Now it's MUCH CLEARER ![Shocked ](./images/smilies/icon_eek.gif) I'm almost embarrassed that I didn't see the meaning of it before.
But I guess that's what seperates the Pros from the rest of us. Again, thanks for the info, have a nice day. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

I'll attest to that ![LMAO LMAO](./images/smilies/emot-LMAO.gif) I tried to sing "All I want for X-mas is you" by Mariah Carey. I had a cold so I brought the key down. Stupid stupid stupid ! I sounded like a horse in a water bucket drowning.
