My business name is "The Karaoke Guy, Co." This came about because that's what everyone called me. I wasn't offended. My wife is referred to as "The Karaoke Chick." She is not offended either. I think people have become so overly sensitive because of political correctness, that everything is offensive.
I don't think people should take ANYTHING personal from intoxicated individuals. I get all kinds of things thrown at me (verbally) that COULD upset me, but I chose not to take it personally. When they get that way, I just eliminate them from my rotation (silently, of course.) When they ask me where their song is, I just reply: "I don't remember getting that one, are you sure you gave it to me?" They are usually too drunk and lazy to rewrite it, so problem solved. If they hand me another one, I just "lose" it too. If they come up to me and ask when they are up, I just tell them that I have run out of time, and I'll try to get to it.

I like your response--"Hey, drunk guy!"
That reminds me of something that happened several years ago: My friend Karen got a job working w/little kids--I think it was a day care center, if I'm remembering right. I was talking to her on the phone and said, "So now you're Miss Karen, right?" She said, "I am Miss Karen or Karen. I'll answer to anything except 'Hey, teach'." With that, I heard her husband Doug in the background saying good-naturedly, "Hey, teach!"

That is such a cute story ! My mom was a teacher for 40 plus yrs and the kids always called her Mrs G. because our last name was so hard to pronounce. Still to this day we can be walking down the road and you'll here someone yell "Hey Mrs G." and wave. It's so great considering these kids are now adults with kids of their own.
