I always thought it was a bad approach. But I can understand both sides of it.
Back in the olden days when I was growing up (in the 80's), you would buy a record or tape and basically the whole thing would be filled with great songs. You would listen to one side, flip it and listen to the other. Then repeat or change tapes/records. Think about it, when was the last time we've had an entire album that was good like, GnR - Appetite for Destruction, U2 - Joshua Tree, Metallica - (all albums before Load), etc.. I cant think of any since the 90's.
