I bought an RSQ J-Box Player from Lightyear Music (www.lightyearmusic.com) over a year ago. the package came with 6000 Neo+g songs. I have added new speakers and wireless mics and use it mainly for parties and small events. I have definatley got my monies worth out of this equipment.

I have matured a little in the karaoke arena and would like to get out of Neo+g music. I am tired of changing discs. I bought 6000 more songs from Lightyear Music and they were from Music Miestro. I thought the songs duplication was absolutley horrible compared to what I already have. The backup singers and Casio music was terrible.

I need suggestions on how to upgrade out of Neo+g. Is Cavs Super CD+g the way to go? I would love to have everything on a hard drive.

Please give me suggestions

Get a laptop & hosting program of some sort.
NEO was never big in the pro karaoke world nor is Super CDG. Most would rather use the standard CDG or dump their music to hard drive for computer hosting.

Don't the CDG take up quite a bit of space. For instance how much space would 12000 CD+G songs take up on a hard drive?

Is there a certain karaoke song brand that you prefer over others? It just seemed to me that Music Maestro's sound was inferior to that of Chartbuster etc.

What software do you recommend?

Thanks for your comment

many people use compressed music.. BUT many also don't.

Hard drives are CHEAP... and having a terrabyte of storage is nothing unheard of nowadays.

I have around 900 cdg's (aprox 12K songs) that take up around 90GB of 250 gb hard drive space ripped at 192 kps. Now that hard drives are much cheaper, i'd probably even go to a higher rip if I were to start all over. I just seen a 1TB hard drive at tigerdirect.com for $80!
