I recently purchased a Yamaha MG124cx, as recommended from this board. Thank you vey much, by the way.

Now I have another issue....I thought the mixer would help clean up the sound of the Behringer B215A's that I have. After playing with it for a week, I'm still not happy with the sound. I was seriously considering upgrading the speakers, then a friend suggested I try a processor first.

Which would you recommend??...the Aphex 204, Lexicon MX200, or some other, and why?? Or am I headed in the wrong direction?? Should I dump the Behringers anyway??

I can tell you that combination can sound pretty good. Maybe not top-notch, but as good as or better than most karaoke shows you hear.

There are lots of knobs. And there are even more if you have any equalization between the mixer and speaker. My guess is that it is an adjustment problem. We will wait to hear your settings -- both on the speakers and the mixer -- and perhaps we can see what might be the problem.

talked about setting the mixer. The knobs on the back of the B215A should all be at midrange to start.

You're right...it does sound o.k., but I'm looking for awesome! I need to get back out there and see what the others are sounding like nowadays. From what I hear, it's not too good, which is why I'm looking for awesome.

Maybe I'm being to picky?? I'm not a sound engineer, by any means, but I have a good ear and have dealt with high-end home audio all my life. However, I have little to zero experience with pro audio....mixers, processors, compressors, etc...

For pre '70 music they are an absolute must to restore or compensate for the limited frequency response in those days. They also help some of the newer stuff.

However the combination you want is something like a BBE362 and the Aphex 104 or 204. The 362 retsores some of the harmonics lost in compression or poor reproduction. The Aphex separates and clarifies thees sounds and also provides a big bottom for bass.

For consistency at different volume levels they should be inserted between the desk main EQ and main faders. BBE the the Aphex. They should never be over driven in fact I prefer less than unity then bring up the gain with main amp or speaker amps.

They both can be tweaked for venue but are always close to mid or 12:00.

Well then, if you want awesome you can get some better speakers. No one ever called the Behringers awesome, just a good price/performance ratio.

You can also try something like the DBX Driverack PA (or PX if you are sure you will never want to use it with amps/subs/mains). The Driverack PA speaker processor is graphic EQ/subsonic enhancement/aural excitation/feedback suppression/crossover/parametric EQ all in one.

I just picked one up for about $290.00 on Ebay last month -- it was the third I have bought. Couple that with the Behringer ECM8000 RTA mic (or a more expensive one) and it can use pink noise and real-time analysis to set equalization and subsonic enhancement to a point that wowed me compared to what I achieved with normal EQ/crossover settings.

You could also buy my BBE 362 for $50.00, which I am going to sell because I have enough DriveRacks to go around. That will help when attached to your music channel or the overall output.

We use the Lexicon mx200 and the driverack Speaker Optimizer. The lexicon for a vocal effects box and the DBX for getting the best sound possible out of the powered speakers that I have (EON15's) We love this set up...however this is a new setup so we are till learning but so far this thing sounds better than we thought it would...PS all of this (the Lexicon and the DBX) was recomended here...Thanks for that ...
