I just read thru' everyone's lists of suggestions...
Someone mentioned "Wash it Away" by Black Lab. I LOVE that song!!!!! I have it on a compilation CD from American Eagle Outfitters, "The Blue Album" (and I also have "The Blue Album 2", which has another Black Lab song, "She Loves Me", which I also love).
Someone else mentioned the Disney "Enchanted Tiki Room". Is that the one that goes: "In the tiki-tiki-tiki-tiki-tiki room..." I love that too! My son used to have a tape with that song on it.
Now mine:
As I've already said here and on other karaoke boards, the main song I want on karaoke is "Psychobabble" by the Alan Parsons Project. (Knightshow said he wants this one also.) I've sung it for live band karaoke, and that was a lot of fun, but it would be nice to have it available for regular karaoke also. (Ditto "I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You", also by the Alan Parsons Project, and I've also sung that for live band karaoke.)
There are about 1,000,000,000 other songs I want! If you go to the Sound Choice board (soundchoice.com), you'll see that I have made tons of suggestions (and seconded other people's suggestions). One song that I suggested that a lot of people agreed on was "On the Way Home" by Buffalo Springfield. As for current songs, I love "Beating My Heart" by Jon McLaughlin, but I figure that will probably be out on a karaoke disc soon if it's not already.
Actually, I haven't done any karaoke singing in a few weeks. I may go tonight. There have been some nights recently, though, when I've thought "I may go tonight" and then wound up not going. So we'll just have to see.

Yes, that's the Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room I'm talking about! We had the LP soundtrack to the Tiki Room and the Jungle Cruise when I was little (this had the Hawaiian War Chant on it too). We also had the LP soundtrack to Disney's Haunted Mansion. It sounded just like the ride in Disneyland.
Hmmm....here's the lyrics: http://www.lyricsdownload.com/disney-th ... oom-lyrics.

Oh, BTW, another current one that I really would love to sing is "Pocketful of Sunshine" by Natasha Bedingfield. I'm guessing that is probably available, although the place where I went last night didn't have it (at least not in their books).

Any kind of modern "West Coast Blues", IE Mannish Boys, Rod Piazza, Hollywood Fats, Junior Watson, Mitch Kashmar, LynnWood Slim, James Harmon, etc.
More modern swing other than current Brian Setzer releases. More of Royal Crown Revue, etc.
More of traditional Chicago blues--IE Muddy Waters, Freddie King, anything other than whats on present Karaoke.

OK, now I'll list a bunch of stuff I would like to be released for karaoke. I'm sure this won't be a _complete_ list, as I'll probably think of many more later...(btw if any of these ARE out there, let me know)
Anything by the Alan Parsons Project that hasn't been released yet, especially "Psychobabble"
Anything by Enya that hasn't been released yet, especially "Anywhere Is"
"Tore Down a la Rimbaud"-Van Morrison
Anything by Blackmore's Night
"On the Way Home"-Buffalo Springfield
"Some Velvet Morning"-Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood (need 2 ppl to sing this)
"The Core"-Eric Clapton and Marcy Levy (ditto)
"Hanalei Road"-Courtney Jaye w/Taj Mahal (ditto again)
"Christmas Pipes"-Celtic Woman (I guess it's not too late to request Christmas stuff, huh?)
"L. David Sloane"-Michele Lee
"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", "I Hold No Grudge"-Nina Simone (since lots of ppl have recorded the first one, there probably are some versions floating around, but I like Nina's version the best)
"Don't Ever Say Goodbye"-Rick Derringer (also Todd Rundgren, who wrote the song)
"It's a Crying Shame"-Gayle McCormick (also "Baby It's You" from her group Smith)
"Come On-a My House", "Hot Toddy", "Must Be Catchin'"-Julie London (I have sung Rosemary Clooney's version of the first one, so I know that one is available)
"Unsung", "Paint it Black"-Vanessa Carlton (yes the 2nd one is a Stones cover)
"Dune Buggy"-Apollo Smile (early '90s; I have this on a compilation disk, would be tons of fun for karaoke)
"Ding Dong Ding Dong"-George Harrison
"(I Don't Want to Love You But) You Got Me Anyway"-Sutherland Bros. & Quiver
"People of the South Wind"-Kansas
"Past, Present & Future"-Shangri-Las, also Agnetha Faltskog (btw this song is all talk, no singing)
"Long Dark Road"-Hollies
"Another Hundred People", "You Could Drive a Person Crazy"-from the musical "Company"
"Buenos Aires"-from the musical "Evita" (this would be hard to sing, but it would be fun to try 'cause it's such a fun song)
"Coffee in a Cardboard Cup"-originally from the musical "70 Girls 70" but I know it from the revue "And the World Goes 'Round" (5 people sing it on that recording, but it wouldn't be hard for 1 person to do)
Any "VeggieTales" songs
"Up in a Puff of Smoke"-Polly Brown
"Aldonza"-from the musical "Man of La Mancha" (this would be hard to sing, but would be fun to try at least once, or to hear someone sing it)
"Shakedown Cruise"-Jay Ferguson
"Hanging on a Heart Attack"-Device (also "Heart Don't Fail Me Now" by Holly Knight, who was a member of this group)
The original "Pokemon" theme song ("I want to be the very best...") My son is a big fan of "Pokemon" and this is one of those songs that's easy to sing along with, and darn nigh impossible _not_ to sing along with! Someone requested it on another board as well
"You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want)"-Joe Jackson
Well, that's my (ahem) small list. I'm sure there are more that I forgot about and they will probably pop into my head later!

"Past, Present & Future"-Shangri-Las, also Agnetha Faltskog (btw this song is all talk, no singing)
I have written to a few karaoke manufacturers on the above, requesting it too..
As far as Nina Simone's 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood' , it's on Pocket Songs..

Thanks for the info! Oh, a few more:
"Paperlate", "Home by the Sea"-Genesis
"Fancy"-Bobbie Gentry (I think this would be easier for me to sing than Reba's version, although I've never tried it)
Anything by the Australian band Sherbet (or the Sherbs as they were later known) or by their lead singer, Daryl Braithwaite (his song "Higher than Hope" was a minor hit in the USA)
(Darn--I thought of some others and now I don't remember them! I will probably remember them when I am away from the computer, heh!)

OK, I mentioned "Home by the Sea" from Genesis, but I was just on another karaoke board and someone there has sung it. So I guess it IS available.

Always check selectatrack... they have rights to SBI, Zoom, SingtotheWorld, and many of those tracks are NOT listed on kjpro or musicbook deluxe.

I would love to see any older Springsteen songs made for karaoke, especially songs from GREETINGS FROM ASBURY PARK.... even if they didn't have lyrics on screen. I could do that part myself. I would even be willing to swap the CDG files for the audio files. That would probably save you some work in the long run.

Actually, if I had to narrow my above list down to 3...it would be tough. But I think the main ones I want, in order, are: 1.) "Psychobabble"-Alan Parsons Project; 2.) "On the Way Home"-Buffalo Springfield; 3.) "Tore Down a la Rimbaud"-Van Morrison. I dunno if the Van Morrison one was ever released as a single, but the other 2 songs hit the top 100 although they didn't hit the top 40. (For what it's worth, Buffalo Springfield's only top 40 hit was--well--"For What it's Worth". I wish "On the Way Home" _had_ been a big hit...)

oceantracks @ Tue Sep 16, 2008 12:03 pm wrote: Again, here's the deal.
If you guys want any of this stuff done, the problem is that none of the karaoke distributors are getting any requests for this material. So when I go to suggest doing it, the answer is usually..."Well, no one is asking for it." So it is up to you guys to email the heck out of every karoke distributor on the net, and tell them you want more 60s and 70s hits. Send the song lists. Whatever. As soon as they see that someone may actually go out and buy this material, you can bet it will be done.
Some of the songs mentioned in the wish lists on SC forum are already out there. They are terrible, but they are out there. So that is another thing to say in your emails. The available versions of such and such title sound amateurish and you won't buy those.
Thanks Tom
Tom does your company have a website by chance???
