Trying to switch from laptop to a tower hard drive.Need to know if there is a dvi to s video cable to get out to the TV monitor,or a USB to s video cable.I do not have an s video plug in on the tower drive. If any one can tell me how to get the lyrics to the TV from these hook ups I would be grateful to you.The vgi plug in will be used for the player and song list so that one is already being used.

thanks
Cotton

If you're switching to a desktop system from a laptop (I am assuming that's what you're calling the tower hard drive) you can get decent video cards with s-video out at reasonable prices. You can get a DVI to VGA adaptersc heap but I don't know of a DVI to s-video adapter.

Two options that I see based on the information you have given:

1) Get a video card that has an s-video port on it here is a range of PCI Express cards with s-video out. Here is a link with a list of cards that will do what you need. The cheapest one will do more than you need for just karaoke:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi ... rchInDesc=

2) Get an expensive adapter that will step the DVI signal to S-video or composite.

Hope this helps!

<Edit> I said "sound card" when I meant video card. Sorry about that :(

What Software Program are you using and what type of video socket is on your mother board for your tower: AGP, PCI or PCI Express...

If you a switching to a tower unit I would suggest for your system a cheap pci video card such as a Nvidia 4000 GeForce or 5000 GeForce. If you a planing on running anything other then karaoke you will probably need a better video card but these cards are cheap and have a s-video out on them and are easy to set up for karaoke systems.

and it entirely depends on the motherboard you are buying (or fully built system you have)... for instance, just bought a pci express card, and I had to go to the next type of motherboard to support it, AND powersupply that was 24 pin power.

Yet for all that, the old AMD (20 pin power supply - 500 watt) works FINE for karaoke, including video!
