Quote: It's probably more of a personal taste, I just would prefer to have the power & broader frequency response - even in the small room (but I always plan for future use as well), doesn't mean I would have to turn it up - although I probably would, I prefer big sound & the EON10 wouldn't cut it for me - plus the fact of the almost $200 price difference. And yes I know those EON sound good, but given the choice i'd still opt for the bigger driver, & more power for almost $200 less.
You band guys drive me nuts!!

The Carvin is probably better and specs a few HZ lower (57 vs. 65). I know they spec 46hz, but it is -10db and I don't think any 12" molded speaker is going to give you that frequency in any meaningful way.
You are probably not going to be able to tell a few Hz. It is as much how tight the bass sounds as the exact frequency. If you do want to compare specs, make sure you look at the -3db value on both.

How about the reliability? I would like them to last as long as possible. We karaoke twice a month, probably about 10 hours per month.

Thanks for the kind offer, I am currently at the planning stage. I am actually building a home theater, and I would like to incoporate the karaoke in the same room. I will place the speakers in the front, just below the screen (lay on the floor), that's the only space allowed. Do you have any suggestions about room treatment? I would like to minimize the sound going upstair.

The Carvin actually has better specs & frequency response. If you notice one thing on the Carvin, it's rated in continuous power at 350 watts total, the Behringer is rated at 400 watts 'peak'. It continuous power is actually 250 watts total.

IAMAO I was lighting basement rec rooms when the source was a 45 rpm or 33 1/3 rpm record player. I could go down to the pawn shops and build a system for minimum amount of bucks. Why you want to put a PA system in a basement is totally beyond me because I can light 10 acres with it. Well maybe 3.... I can light a whole bar with 100 watts/side.. It is obvious to me that you are not experienced with home installations and I would suggest you heed the advise of an engineer with many decades of experience in all applications. If you need 1000 watts in your car then I suggest a more efficient application.
And you want to put a PA system in a 10X30 room? JFC... These tech responses are getting rediculous...
Woodstock69 took 3400 watts. Woodstock 99 took over a million. Think about it folks.

Considering I run 2 Peavey SP-4 dual 15" cabs with 1000 watt CS1000 amp in my basement, you can see where my preference is!

They are reliable (the Carvins). Our band ran our system hard every weekend for 7 years. We did blow the subs once (due to power surge in the building) but Carvin sent us replacements within 3 days. Very good customer service.

It isn't a matter of 'need' all the time. Especially in car stereo. Competition systems can have enough power to literally blow out the windows of a sealed car - the ultimate goal is high decibels and nothing much more. They typically aren't for listening to at regular levels.

Sound requirements were a lot different then as well - 3400 today would not cut it by todays standards - hell I run that in my club now. As I recall Woodstock 69 was the first attempts at using floor monitors on stage for the singers.

I am totally a noob when comes to audio stuff. I went to guitar center and they suggested a 8" yamaha system, I brought it home and crank it all the way up, wasn't satisfy with the sound and returned it. I picked the B212A because it fits my budget, they could be have for around $470 a pair shipped to my house.

If you are concerned about reliability, then CARVIN LM12A is no brainer as it comes with 3 years warranty and backed by a reputable US based company with great service/support.
On the other hand, Behringer products are not made in US - only come with 1 year warranty and service/support have been quite questionable.
Just Google it and you'd see from other online user forums in the DJ/KJ world.
