Here's a year end roundup of my place anyway. The big ones from last year. This is totally from memory... I have no database or anything scientific like that. I tried to remember the number of singers who regularly sing each one also. That's listed after each song.

10.Bleeding Love - Leona Lewis (5) listed low because the ladies have backed off it
9. Pork And Beans - Weezer (2)
8. Realize and Bubbly - Colbie Calliet (4) listed together because they are practically the same song
7. Chicken Fried - Zac Brown (4)
6. Take A Bow - Rihanna (5)
5. Sittin' At A Bar - Rehab (5 or more... this often turns into a group sing)
4. Hot N Cold - Katy Perry (6)
3. Single Ladies Put A Ring On It - Beyonce (6 and growing. The hot new song at present)
2. So What - Pink (at least 7)
1. I Kissed A Girl - Katy Perry (the whole room!)

They're finally backing off I Kissed A Girl a little. Last week it was only sung once... by a guy, which is as typical as a girl for this number. Last summer it was done so much that the bar staff actually asked me to pull it for awhile to give them a break. And I think they were half serious.

Others of note: Closer - NeYo, Put A Girl In It - Brooks & Dunn, Johnny And June - Heidi Newfield, Shut Up & Let Me Go - Ting Tings, Shattered - O.A.R.

Plus here's two songs from late 2007 that I got in early 2008 that are still huge in my room: Apologize and (surprise!) Stay.

The list is heavily weighted towards female songs because I have more female singers than male. Plus the guys are more apt to sing what they listened to in high school rather than the new stuff anyway. The ladies ore more on top of current songs.

Almost all of these I bought as downloads from two sites that often get them up faster than even the monthlies. It's a good way to go if speed is important. Plus it's much easier on my pocketbook. I'd sometimes replace them later, but don't anymore unless one is really substandard because the singers get used to the downloads and don't want to change over.

As always I'm interested in what's being sung in your rooms so fire away!

OMG I forgot about Gunpowder And Lead! That would be right up there had I remembered it. 4-5 singers. Also I should have listed in the "other" group Mercy (Duffy) and If I Were A Boy (Beyonce)... each done regularly, but only by one singer. But done well.

Sorry Babs I was just listing songs from the year 2008. I guess I should have said that more specifically. But I always like looking over everyone's list of what's being done no matter what the year, so thank you! :)

I don't know if I can think of 10 'popular' '08 songs that were done regularly.
I Kissed A Girl was done often, mostly by the same girl every night.
Sorry - Buckcherry was done heavily at first.
Psycho - Puddle Of Mudd was done occasionally
All Summer Long - Kid Rock probably the most done, but again was still by 1 or 2 people
Gunpowder & Lead - Gretchen Wilson done often

This is all I can think of off hand for new stuff that was really done, most of the music we get done is 70's-90's & a spattering of 00-07 songs.

LMAO I think some those ^ were '08.

All Summer Long - by Kid Rock

Bleeding Love - Leona Lewis

I can't think of a whole lot of "08 songs that were popular. Not a great year for Huge karaoke hits.

I think this shows that karaoke song popularity is very localized. A song creates a "buzz" around town and generates interest among the singer underground.

In Charlotte, definately "Before He Cheats" is the worn out one. Have only seen "So What" done once, and have never seen anyone do "All Summer Long".... (although these two get used a lot as filler music.)

Next runner up for overplay, would be that song about "Sittin' at a bar on the inside, waitin for my ride on the outside..."

Yeah... that would be number five on my list.

But you know... I've had "Chicken Fried", "I Kissed A Girl", and one of the Colbie Calliet songs (can't remember which one offhand they're so similar) sung at my Elks Lodge gig, which is an entirely different group. There's no cross-pollination going on between these rooms.

I dunno... compared to the rest of you I must have been dealt a weird adventuresome group. At least the ladies. I know it's tough to keep up with them.

The shocker to me is that no one has ever sung "All Summer Long". It's on the jukebox before I start. Last summer you couldn't get away from it if you tried. And I'm serious... it's never been attempted. I've been waiting and I would have remembered it if anyone had even tried.

My room went through a "Before He Cheats" phase. It was really driving us nuts. Fortunately it's not done more than many others now. But I can still count on it coming up at least once every four or five shows.

When that song first came out all the ladies had it as their ringtone. I mean it was that popular. Between songs you'd hear it go off sometimes, and they'd all go diving for their cellphones thinking it was theirs...

I know. I've got a weird room.

Oh yeah. "Gunpowder and Lead", which I believe is a Miranda Lambert song, is also one of the 2008 tracks that has been done in both of my rooms now that I think about it.

I should start keeping a complete history.

Mine have to be pretty much these almost all female because men seem to do a lot of different songs at my shows.

1. Stay, which I wished would leave and mostly has.
2. Gunpowder & Lead
3. All Summer Long (after I got it, was a bit tardy)
4. Love Story (T. Swift) (got a lot of play late, may not be overall)
5. Bubbly (not sure if eligible, but it was new for me in April)
6. Just A Dream
7. Shiftwork
8. I Kissed A Girl
9. Life In A Northern Town
10. Sorry

My room bucks the norm,

5. I believe in a thing called love
4. Animal
3. Bohemian Raspsody
2. It's all coming back to me now
1. Pour some sugar on me

I've had a quite a few modern songs sung, Valerie being the main one sung this year. No one has asked for I kissed a girl, All Summer Long has only been tried by two singers and in the UK the only person singing "before he cheats" has been me, no one else has heard of it.

I think we were talking about songs that came out in 2008...

oh  I just listed the most sung songs in my room during 2008. . .

In that case Rockstar (which came out in 2008 in the uk) was sung for the first two months in my room almost every night

Mercy has been sung by three singers, as has Mr Rock and Roll

Warwick avenue, all summer long and this is the life... are the few that have been tried and quickly forgotten.

None of the 2008 releases been really popular with my crowd :(

Valerie by Amy Wino was by far my top request. Probably still will be this year too, gets played every gig without fail!
Kid Rock - All Summer Long was very popular, although its tailing off a bit now. Kings of Leon - Sex On Fire is the most recent sung to death song, I can live with that, its a great song!
Not sure about others, I got no way of counting other than by memory as I still use discs.

Before He Cheats I believe was a 2007 song. That song was a strong karaoke hit though and will be one of those songs that will linger around forever. I can't think of a song thats come out since that had as much impact. I'm surprised "I kissed a Girl" rarely gets sung by my area. Thoughts?

If you've had it this long & no one has sung it yet, then chances are it isn't going to become a reg. I have heard it literally ALL SUMMER LONG, but like I said it was only done by a couple people only, there was no huge rush on the song by everyone like some songs have got in the past.

Some one just discovered we have "All Summer Long" so we are just starting our phase. Other than that, if you had specified "Top Songs Sung from 1958," I could have participated.
