Ok i have started ripping my cd's to the computer via Compuhost.So far it seems like it's going smooth,,,slow... but smooth
Since i can see this is going to be a big time investment,i wanted to again make sure i'm on right track.
I am ripping as zipped mp3+g to a clean hard drive with 1 folder named Karaoke,it is a 640 gig hard drive.I am ripping with Variable Bit Rate of 320 (Max) at 100% and a Rip Speed of 4X just to be safe.
It is adding all the songs to the Fast Tracks V2 songbook as it rips.
I've read how long it has taken some of you all to rip your collection and i see now what you mean!

Just make sure you test some of the iffy discs once imported - the ones more scratched than others or the ones that may give graphic artifacts or skip in a cd player. Also make sure the discs are clean. Test every so often - especially in the higher track numbers. If the iffy songs play well then I wouldn't change the import speed, if they don't you may want to re-rip those at a lower speed.
Good luck and have fun! Took me almost 3 months to get my entire collection done - about 4-6 hours a day.

I have spent months getting rid of typos and dups. Choose the naming format and be consistent with it. You can keep track of the manus by an extension. I use Artist And Title only no numbers needed on slips.

As added information,it looks like each disc is averaging approximately 95 MB of space on the drive.

Are you using the latest CDGRip Version 2? If not I highly recommend you do so. It's much faster, supports alot more drives, and includes the latest error correction technology for perfect or near perfect rips!
It is available for free at karaokeware.com .
Also, CDGRip version 2 automatically calculates the optimum ripping speed for your drive, by selecting OPTIMUM for the speed setting all should be good.

Wait until you start making books. Then the work starts..  In fact now is the time to try different softwares and do some trials with what you have ripped so far.

I have never thought about it but I would think Constant Bit Rate at least 198...

well it gave me 2 options Constant or Variable. I chose Variable.
Then under Variable it asks what Variable Bit Rate Quality i want, 25% 50% 75 % or 100%.
I chose 100% Sounded good to me but why would someone want a lower quality?

How do you get it to add to fast tracks automatically? I did it separately and while it didn't take nearly as long as ripping 3000 songs, it still took a while.

Hmm guess i was wrong.
Now i see what i was looking at.When the ripper is open.click the preference tab and on the bottom of the panel that opens up,,there is a box that says "Auto Add Listings to Compuhost Songlist". I guess i thought it meant Fast Track Songlist.

Ok, I did not see that.
But technically there is no such thing as 320kb vbr, it can't be done. It can only be done with cbr ripping and since he did `100%' setting for vrb setting, that may be the same as if he did a cbr rip at at 320kb.
