And let's not confuse publishing company names with tracks. If, for discussion purposes, there were people from SGB subsequently involved with AH or DG, that doesn't mean all tracks published by AH and/or DG were SGB products. On the other hand, it does mean that there is reason to believe that some specific tracks are SGB's. And some of us have suspicions that concur as to that likelihood.
Which tracks are you talking that are the same. I'm curious.
I just listened to what I have, AH vs SGB vs Dangerous. Most of the AH & SGB were the same from what I have. There are actually SOME tracks I found on Dangerous that are the same as both brands - never really noticed before as I have better versions of the songs in question and don't list these dup versions.

I believe that Eric had a typo, and meant to type DG, not DK.

The four tracks that I indicated were the same on both DG and SGB are listed in a previous post on this thread.
To that list I add (same SGB vs DG):
Aerosmith "Livin On The Edge"
Robert Cray "Smokin Gun
Bon Jovi "Runaway" **
**Both tracks are the EXACT SAME PRODUCT. AND.. the product starts with the exact opening screen that AH uses!
Please note that I have found about four instances so far where the SGB and DG tracks are NOT the same product.

These tracks are identical with different label, AH-2008 & DG03
1) Bad Company - Ready For Love
2) Benny Mardones - Into The Night
3) Love Hurts - Nazareth

My disks were bought about 6 years ago, they are gold and written in red, it does say, Made In Canada

Very few people can tell if 2 audio tracks come from the same source by just listening to them. I don't think anyone here have the ears to do it.I don't have those tracks, but if I do I can load them in an audio editing program and compare the wav form.

Maybe, but most people THINK they can, when in fact they can't.

Agree Some think software all sound the same when in reality they don't, depends on the sound engine used

Ok Runaway on the Dangerous is NOT the same as the All Hits or SGB - I have all 3. I sing this song (or used to) but compared very carefully & it is VERY different. All Hits & SGB ARE the same, Dangerous is not. The other two songs I don't have on SGB or AH to compare.

I have just edited a previous post of mine which had the logic/mathematics equation just in case anyone didn't realized that we were discussing DG all along and I erroneously used "DK" in my post. Sorry for any confusion!

As to requiring audio equipment to compare two tracks --- that is absolutely unnecessary for purposes of this discussion.
I've already stated that I have found the same songs on SGB and DG that were absolutely not the exact same track. Do I need a machine to confirm that the differences that I so clearly can detect actually exist?
If I compare the same song from two different karaoke brands, and they sound exactly alike to me why would I need a machine to tell me that there are actually differences which the human ear can't hear. If the human ear can hear it, it doesn't count for the actual purpose of this discussion (see NOTE below). Differences that are undetectable by the human ear can't effect an human being's evaluation of quality or comparability of one track vs another.
If I and other believe that two tracks sound the same, while they might not be the same, it is clear that the quality must be comparable. One can't be "junk" and the other "underrated"
NOTE: If the essence of this discussion was simply "which" tracks are appearing on more than one brand of karaoke disc, then the assistance of a machine would be necessary. However, what we have been discussing is the relative quality of different karaoke collections where it appears that three different brands are using the same tracks, with a great deal of consistency, yet some members rate one brand much better than the others!

Which is my point exactly, someone may hear one track & think it sounds the same when in fact it is recorded completely different. In the example of Runaway, the DG track does not sound anything like the AH & SGB track (which these are the same). To me these do not have a good recording, no effects on the opening synth & very midified throughout. Now I do admit again I did find SOME tracks that were identical through all 3 brands in question with the few SGB I have. But Runaway is not one of them.

I'm lost regarding "Runaway". Even the graphics are exactly the same in comparing SGB to DG. And what distinctions should I look for in regard to the audio?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone else have an opinion on the similarities between "Runaway" on SGB vs the same track on DG?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PS: I'm an authority on very little and an expert on even less. And the older I get the less I know. I just wanted to clarify the main thrust of this thread before it went off "into the wild blue yonder", as so often happens. And discussing technical aspects of validating/indentifying the actual tracks used by various brands is not germane, specifically, to the primary issue at hand!

Perhaps it's time to follow Jian's suggestion Open the two files with Audacity, normalize both tracks and compare the wave form

The opening synth track alone is completely different. The SGB sounds like a Casio keyboard, with absolutely no reverb & slap backvocals echo effect. The Dangerous is much fuller sounding true to the original. PLUS the Dangerous version has backup vocals on the "All Your Life" in the first verse & second verse, unless they changed it & put the SGB version on it for the remakes, but like I said it's right on the pack I bought 6 months ago as well as my original pack I bought in 94. Even the song lengths are different. 3:43 for both the AH & SGB & 4:00 for the Dangerous????
Graphics? Lots of companies used the same graphic generator.

They have been out of business a LONG time. The last set I bought off of E-bay was about 6 months ago, they were brand new (seller had many sets), not burns. They were pressed discs. The printing on them look absolutely nothing like the originals though. I don't doubt they were sold as brand new AND professionally made. Lon. The thing is that the original label hasn't been in production for YEARS. Doesn't mean theier master copies & name weren't bought & are being redistributed through another source. All Hits, SGB, Helluvadisc, MegaHits, and a couple others are all one in the same. The Dangerous discs I have are very different from the All Hits & even the few SGB discs I do have. Many renditions of SGB are identical to All Hits - a friend of mine has an original SGB disc that HAS All Hits graphics on them. Quote: The only OTHER explaination: IF All Hits or someone else bought the label, and keeps re-releasing it. I just can't find anything that says that happened. As far as I know ( better phrased?) Dangerous is a dead label, just like SGB. Where did you find info on All Hits BTW? I know our local stores didn't even know that from their inception - nor any of the other associated brands?
Liek I said, someone COULD be redistributing them. I only said that I can't find any info to validate that. Doesn't mean it's not happening.
I have no "info" on All Hits. I was only using them as an example because they came up so often in the thread.
Yo my knowledge there is no association between Dangerous and ANY other label. The same for SGB. That's why I don't believe the "New" Dangerous are licensed. As for SGB- they were NEVER licensed. That's why they closed their doors. That's why it doesn't matter, in SGBs case, what version you have.
I have heard rumors of All Hits, Mega Hits, and Helluva Disc labels being associated, but not with Dangerous OR SGB.
As for those tracks on All Hits that are identical to SGB- Remember that All Hits is a collection like SuperCore, using several different mfrs. versions, as well as their own. However, track sharing is not the same as Label association. I personally think that All Hits versions of say, White Rabbit, is superior, and SGB's is not. There are many differences and different tracks between the two.

SGB has alot of All Hits music in it's colletion - whether it's All Hits reincarnated or SGB just took the music, it's pretty much the same. Like I said I have a friend that has an original SGB disc with All Hits graphics on it.
Dangerous I have never know to be associated as well. However now that I am digging into what I have, I have found a couple songs that ARE in fact identical (musically) within all 3 brands.
Shakin - Eddie Money
Angel - Aerosmith
Sara Smiles - Hall & Oates
Cruel To Be Kind - Nick Lowe
